When I got my car I was told not to put anything but semi-sythetic oil in? What would be the best for my Jap Auto TT please.

vini, I am using Silkolene Pro S 10/50 Fully Synthetic and never had any problems. Oilman can get it for you.

Use search and find 100's of different opinions, I have tried a few different ones and settled on Millers 10W60 and I believe its one that Ryan recommends so must be good.

Your the first person I have seen recommend ProS on here other than Oilman who sells it, I bought a case, tried it once in my Zed and then used the rest in my lawn mower, that blew up

What was the deciding factor that makes you think it isnt any good?

morris 10/50 for me - you arent going to go far wrong with any fully synth 10/50 or 10/60

I am no oil expert so this is just my opinion but, the oil visibly looks very very thin as you pour it, my engine did not sound as quiet while ProS was in it and also from talking to people on this forum and reading posts from other people that have used it and blamed their problems on it I based my opinion, also I have noticed on other car forums that oilman goes on he always recommends ProS no matter what car, now is that because its the one he makes most profit on???

Glad to see this post as im gonna do a full service and was gonna order some pro s. Now dont know what to go for :headvswal Used mobil one before and its just to thin..

Well so far I have tried Castrol RS, Silkolene ProS, Mobile 1 and Millers and I find Millers to be the best but thats just going by how the engine sounds and runs, not a very technical and precise way to measure how good an oil is but all I can offer.

Nissan recommend 10w/40 so I can't see a reason to use anything other than that unless you have a highly tuned engine that would possibly need a different oil.

Hit the nail on the head there

I will only use and recommend Castrol RS10/60 or Millers 10/60 I would certainly not use silkolene ............not even in my lawnmower

Nissan recommended this 15 years ago when new, a thicker viscosity oil will just look after an older engine and turbos a little better

is magnetec ok for a na as ive just brought 4.5 liters of the stuff??

Not sure i would use it in a TT ;) but for an NA it will be fine

im currently using millers 5/40 fully synt with no probs, however im considering decatting so should i stick with this or change to a thicker oil like rs 10/60 once i decatt , got tubs recon approx 4yrs ago but since then done no more then 20,000 miles so they should be ok.
