Well I was told about a Z for breaking over the weekend which is quite something as these are few and far between over here!! Got to the yard and to my amazement it was a Wine colored, SWB, SLICKTOP even more rare here. Very little damage, infact it was drivable, just small light ding to the rear, but the car had to be broke as there was no reg documents to support the jap transfer. It's a manual, V6 not A TT. Mostly all intact accept for a drivers seat missing. I noticed that the Speedo read both in MPH & KPH thought that to be unusual for a JAP car?? I took some pics with my phone so Ill try to post them some how??

100% sure it cant be Inspected and re-registered ? seems a shame :(

That would be a UK speedo in it.

 BIG shame if that one can't be rescued, it's the best variant (to us connoisseurs ;))

Try harder!! :D

jesus shame to go to waste, go back and beg on your hands and knees lad LOL!!

I tried a few times to buy the car but no joy!! Typical breakers yard guy, said it was worth more to him to break that sell and this guy doesnt even know anything about Z's!! Think it was a case of seeing me in mine and thinking £££££££!! It's not a Uk speedo, because it didn't look anything like mine?? on the outer face it was clocked to 110 and inner was 180. Then bottom left showed MPH and right KPH. I never seen this setup before? But I've never been in a NA SWB Z before. The original wheels and tyres were perfect, and has complete engine and gearbox, supsension, etc etc. If it could be bought whats it worth? £500 or more?? How would you get past having no papers and never been UK regestered??

you can get those clock faces from the usual import conversion places, i've got one.

Breakers Yard Today-swb Zx Slicktop

Rescue it quickly. Pleeze!

No Papers??? No Problem.

Hi guys sorry for the late reply. It's a real good clean one. Think the roof strips were in good condition. I'm trying to buy the car off the guy at present what's it worth anyone?? £500 £800 £1000!!!!!

The car was damaged slightly on the rear, so not sure what boot panels SGT c Needs. But I was in the boot and it all looked fairly good. Still had spare wheel and tool kit, jack and everything in the foam tray. Had all the rear boot carpets etc, Standard exhaust and wheels looked good, Has only got 1 seat, passenger, which was like brand new. Tweed though. All door trims were in good condition, missing electric window switches on drivers side. Has complete dash minus the radio, All air con switches and light switches are perfect. Good steering wheel and centre arm rest. Good speedo cluster in MPH & MPH showing only 70km on the meter. Roof lining is clean and complete with lights and sun visors and pillar plastics. It has a good original front bumper but most of the lights are gone. Both head lamps are still there though! Complete engine with nothing stripped as yet, gear box and all suspension still there. Tail lights rubber spoiler are buggered. Think rear bumper was ok. All glass in perfect condition. Tried to upload pic’s from my mobile but missing software which is just typical.

i want the boot lid!! glass or no glass no matter to me it will be coming out..

Have it w/o then mate, surely it would cost a small fortune extra to ship it with the glass!

Stupid ass laws...perfectly good car why can't they just do a check, make sure it's not nicked and create a V5 for it?

No problem. I'm going back to the breakers tomorrow so I'll look at all those parts and see if I can buy this car. Only problem is though, if I do get it I'll want to restore it and could be looking for parts myself on 300ZX.co.uk!!lol Have to look into getting it registered and joining the SWB Ganag too!!! LOL

Dude, i hope you do get it! Would be a bloody waste to let another one be broken.

  • Author

Yeah your right! And its such a unique car too and that maroon color is quite rare. Even if I could buy it, fix it, try to register it and end up having to Q plate the car it would be worth it.

parts for a sliktop!!!! yea right, u know how long i have been looking for a boot lid, and sgt c for trim, and a few other slicktop owners for other parts????

buy it break it and make some cash..

  • Author

Even more reason to keep it then! lol Things must be real bad when a slicktop owner is saying to break a slicktop that could be saved!! lol

Ignore 'em, keep it for yourself if you can

But if you can't, see if he'll sell it to you a job lot of parts for us, and make yourself a few quid - do a thread on here first asking what people want (including me :))
