Ok, i just come back from the shooping centre were i ran into a friend of mine!

She apparently is going out with some guy who apparently runs 28psi on his Renault 5 GT Turbo and i just cant seem to calculate how hes managing that from a lawnmower of a engine, im sure he should have blown the damn thing up by now!

Guys.............is that possible or financially viable?

sorry it can be done not on stock internals had 1 load o fun . yeah it dies of before a ton though 0-80 great after that :( as for cost to run 28psi of boost safely would be very expensive think i spent 5k upwards :(

they do handle well but under hard right foot action the chasis twists when runnin high bhp drivers door opened nearly quarter inch at top `!!!!!!!!!!

Anyone remember the late 70's early 80's F1 cars which ran a 1.4litre Turbo engine and produced 1200Bhp????? cause the piston chamber takes a lots less volume of air this is where the higher boost figures are comming from and the boost guage would shower a higher boost rating but not 28Psi unless he's got water injection and forged pistons!

Had one and loved it.. .As said till 80 quick as ****. Only problem i had was she loved drive shafts but no other real problems and she was driven hard,i was 17 so need not say any more!!

Cant start trying to compare to a zed cause on a back road the 5 would have her hands down but on a main road 5 wouldnt have a look in!

Mine ended up in the side for a silly bitch who pulled out in front of me  and i did that day! I then sold it and wish i never had ever since, but aww well on to bigger and better things the zed of course, but will still buy another 5 for fun some.

A few years ago there was a Max Power feature on a car owned by a guy who ran a tuning company, it ran 45psi boost and developed around 320bhp if I remember correctly. Pretty much every single component was custom made, and when he first put it on a dyno the block cracked, he called it a 'grenade' engine because of the amount of times it would blow up. As if that wasn't bad enough he stuck a 200 shot of nitrous on top.

I remember another Max feature one that developed about 314bhp, but that had no turbo and ran on a mixture of nitrometh, water and alcohol.

Btw. I didn't actually buy Max Power, it er.. just happened to fall of a newsagent shelf a couple of times onto those exact pages, I read it by 'accident'.

Properly tuned a 5 GT Turbo will give a 300zx a good race til it maxes out, especially on backroads and the like.

My old car a Renault 21 Turbo had some mild tuning and would easily keep up with a standard 300zx TT. And after it was running a massive Garrett T4 it would even give a Zed problems til it ran out of gears.
