this may sound harsh but its my view on this

 

yes he was a great player

 

but the one thing that really gets me mad is the fact he blew his 2nd chance

 

he didnt want to get help

 

he got a transplant, another go at life but could not pack the booze in

 

they should have gave the transplant to sum1 who would have made the most of it, not a alcoholic in denial

 

it is a shame though

as has been said on several threads this guy to me was no legend hero or anything like he was a rich drunk who didnt realise what a gift he was given yes i feel for his family but did they do enough to stop him drinking ?????????? imho no they did not

i think what you seem to forget it yes his drinking caused him to need a liver transplant but thats not what killed him, it was the drugs that kept him alive but also kept him prone to any illness or infection which actually killed him so yes in part drink started it but a plain simple illness killed him in the end

Plenty of other people died today - NONE of them had the money/fame etc that he did. He ****ed up, so do others but all they get is slagged off for abusing themselves etc. Sorry but it seriously pisses me off that one person gets so much publicity/honour when there's so many other people doing so much more for the world than he ever did - ffs all he did was kick a ball around! Hope his cheques are valid in hell ;)

Glad I'm not the only one :) The last week has pissed me off no end! My dad died of a heart attack in jan 2000 but I never saw that on the news! IMHO my dad was the best person ever to walk this planet - not some over paid/over sexed/over whatever footballer!!!!!!!!! He wasn't on the news though was he!?!?!?

George Best was one of the greatest fooballers of all time and gave joy to millions of people so not a suprise that he is famous is there, like others have said he also raised alot of money and did alot of work for charity.

 

Now as much as i like taking the pi55 about almost everything i think people need to show some respect for the guy and his family
