just watching the gadget show and they are talking about downloading music

 

i know what down loading is but they were talking about ip adresses i pods dwa format (or something like that) and some other abrreviated words

 

i had no idea what they were on about

 

how do you guys get on with this sort of stuff

 

i only use my pc for this site and the odd bit of porn, but i would love to get to know its full potential (well maybe not this pc as its as old as me lol)

 

only time and knowledge aint on my side at the moment, but any info would be good

They were probably talking about WMA format - which is a form of encoding used by windows media player when you save tracks from CD to your computers hard drive.

Basically this is a unique string of numbers that identifies a computer or server on the Internet. These numbers are normally shown in groups separated by periods. Example: 216.239.51.100 is Google's IP address. If a machine does not have an IP address, it is not really on the Internet. its basically a form of identification.
