USB2.0 or LAN Ethernet 10/100 Base T?? Internet connectivity?

Sounds stupid but I was supplied with my BT Voyager 220V ADSL Voice Router an RJ45 network cable and USB cable.

 

I read that USB2.0 is only good for around 450 Mbits/sec transfer so surely connecting your PC up with your LAN card would be much more efficient?
