ok as previously posted the zed doesn't seem too fast.

Now tonight i though lets do a 0-60 run

now the car a is a uk auto TT

the time was around 9 seconds.

The only probs that i know about are it needs a new shock absorber on the back near side.

Anyone got a clue why its so slow??

I tried the car with overdrive on and off and the times were very similar.

if anyone lives in or around sunderland and could show me how fast there zeds are i'd appreciate it

Look for something that looks like a screw thats sunk in slightly (gold in colour if memory is right), it wont undo it will turn about 180 degrees in either direction very easily, thats the one you want to be turning. There is a little LED next to it that will flash.

not *all* ECU's have this screw (mine doesnt)!

I prefer to use the method in the manual where you short to pins out on the diagnostic socket

you sure you didnt buy a renault five mate? :)

Bird ...i know it sounds daft but go for a run ( a few miles will do) and then get out and feel your wheels , my guess is youve got a siezed caliper and the back brakes are permanently on . you can tell if the alloy is hot , that would account for only the civicesque acceleration and huge thirst ....hope it helps mate ....ther isone guy on here from middlesbrough cant remember his name and i think another from jarrow , go to North east section and look at members This is where the subscription helps as you can send them messages if you are subscribed ..as you said yourself 80 quid just to put it on the computer without manpower charges ..the 20 quid fee is worth every penny ..good luck fella

i know cadpaul is from jarrow.

not sure who's from middlesboro though but thats where i play basketball on a tuesday and thursdasy night.

ill check the brakes later but it doesn't feel like its brakes sticking but like i said ill check. i just dont want to spend so much getting a test done just for them to turn around and say i have an oil or boost leak or something thats all.

click on the page to take you to the next page - it then shows you a flow chart of what to do. 1 method involves turning the screw, the other shows you to short 2 pins with a piece of wire ;)

Mate I have to say I'm really sorry about this - The zed never felt slow to me so I really don't know!?

If there is anything I can do I'll try and sort something out for you because I fell well guilty about this :(

Boost guage is a little too far to the right (should be on the -14), which often indicates boost leak. No gaurantee though, as the gauge can be very innaccurate.

Hi Llew,

i hope the celica is going good mate.

other than the performance issue a needing a rear shock the car seems ok.

Ill let you know what is wrong with it when i find out if you like mate.

I know that when i got back the engine bay smelt a bit like burning which might just be oil on the exaust but hopefully ill find out today though mate.
