Saying Hello

Just thought I'd say hello and introduce myself. :)

I will be in the market for another car come end of March 2006.

I have done an insurance quote and was amazed to find that insuring a UK spec TT was lest than the cost of a JDM Prelude 2.2 vtec.

Infact my insurance company will insure me on a Supra TT6 manual UK for less than the ZX...but I don't have £8k plus to spend.

I have always admired the 300ZX and I regarded (as a performance Jap car enthusiast) it as a sleeping giant...sorry if that offends anyone. :x:

I would very much be in the market for a UK spec TT manual and as usual would wish to get as new a car as poss with as low a mileage as poss and as good a condition as poss. I will have my budget of £4k at the end of March 2006. ;) Ideal for when my insurance renewal is due.

ideally I'd be looking for a stock car maybe with just an exhaust and air filter....

i'd consider the cars future after owning it for a while...keep it stock or modify...depending on how ownership has been.

I know you've all heard this before....lol but I'm not some young (head in heaven) lad but a 30 year old mature driver.... :D

Anyhoo, I have done some useful searches already and got the info I liked to hear.

If anyone is local to Dunstable (Beds.) who's up for showing their car to me to give some extra hints an tips I would be most grateful...I'll even buy you a pint of your chosen beverage. :D

Cheers all

Steve

welcome bud, be carefull of uk cars, like mine they rust alot

are you after a manual or auto

Thanks for the welcome.

I'd wish to own a manual. ;)

What particular areas do they rust in?

Of course I would look out for the assumed areas such as arch rust, sills, pillars etc...is there anywhere else I should look?

There must surely be a non-rusty UK tt manual about :D

Steve

mine went on the sills, arches, cross member, and the top of the strut

nowt to seriuose though (cos me dads a welder)

They are certainly key areas you mention... Would a car pass an MOT if any of these were rusted? Would you recommend an AA/RAC check or a bod from the Owners club to inspect a potential car.

Steve

it would fail on all but the arches

if you hang around and get to know some guys im sure someone will take a look at a potential car with you

get along to your local meet, there is usually one every month

Super advise. Much appreciated.

I'm sure I could drag myself and my Renault 5 campus (temp car only!!!) to a meet (parked out the way of course) and meet up with some owners to get more info.

Firstly, I'd do as Alan says and get to a few local meets, Introduce yourself and take a chappy (one that knows what he's looking for preferably) along with you to view your potential new Z :D

Secondly, Welcome bud, It's nice to get a nice hello like that, I hope your search is a good one!

Thanks gents for the very warm welcome.....despite it being fairly late in the evening. :D

I must certainly get along to a meet then. I'll have a nose in the events section to find a meet that is local to me.

Cheers
