ok so i knew i wouldnt be able to afford a zed yet, so ive turned to a 1.8 gti turbo. good cars apparently but the most i can afford is £4,400 which only buys me a '99 model with 100k on the clock.

does anyone know anything about them and should i be wary of one with such high mileage? do the turbos go as this would obviously be expensive...??

its all vw history and regularly serviced, i can tell its been looked after but with this mileage i am still unsure. i cant afford for loads to go wrong after spending this sort of money...

its had a cambelt change and the water pump also replaced. anything else that is likely to go wrong, engine-wise?

my 205 gti has broken down so NEED to buy a car in the next week. any help or advice would be majorly appreciated!

for 4400 quid, you could get a good zed from someone here and you can be sure it has been looked after...

TBH mate I would go for a GTTDI ... yes I know it's a diesel but in the low end it will put a GTi turbo to shame and keep up with it in the mid range. You will also get better fuel economy.....enjoy it while you can, as you will be throwing it away by getting a zed ;)

yeh i had considered the gt tdi dude but unless its the 150 bhp one (which are proper hard to find in my price range) then theres no point. might as well buy an astra hehe ;)

even then, they aint as quick as the petrol to 60, not sure about after that though. am set on a gti turbo, just need to know whether 100k on the clock is too much to bother with.
