Need to do an oil and filter change on my Z, what would you guys recommend as the best oil to use??????

Featured Replies

best thing to do is use search, there is a load of different views on this, read them and make your own mind up.

hi dude, been covered numerous times its down to personal pref, i use 5/40 fully syt millers, specially in winter because a thinner oil protects and quicker circulation in cold temps some peeps recomend castrol rs 10/60 list goes on, as long as you use a quality oil shouldnt be any problems avoid (slick 50) heard bad reports.

magnatec

The "best" is certainly not Maganatec as it's a petroleum based oil (mineral).

If you want the best then synthetic (non-petroleum) pao/ester is the way to go and although they cost more they are worth it for the higher levels of protection and stay in grade properties.

I would recommend Silkolene PRO and Motul 300V as being two great oils

Cheers

Simon

I have motul in mine. but you try finding it on shelves.

Anyone heard about this new "Royal Purple" stuff.. It's used in nascar racing in the states and is supposed to be amazing, offering an unmatched level of protection at high endurence engine speed and from cold and also claming a BHP increase of around 4.7%??!!!

It contains an ingredient called "Synerlec" offering a super-tough but slippery film onto all critical engine components. It's bloody expensive stuff costing about £40 for 2litres but if it does what it says on the tin then it's cheap BHP in a can!! :D

My car is gonna be a guinnee pig for this test early next year as the guy promoting it once me to do a dyno run with current Millers oil I got in the car (Which is excellent I must say!) and then a complete oil change with new filter and this royal purple stuff put in it.. He reckons with my current set up I'm gonna gain a minimum of 25Bhp but I still remain scepticle!!! It gonna be free oil and dyno anyway so i'll give it a go and post the results!!

I have seen some good write ups on Royal Purple and looked into getting some, I could only find it online in the UK, but I then used some Millers and very happy with it so didnt pursued it any more.
