Just thought I would let you Southerners know about the place that did my Auto rebuild.

 

AGS(Auto Gearbox Specialists) based in Watford on 01923 249179 and ask for Andy or Dave.

 

My Auto was slipping badly before Crimbo so I took it to a guy over the road from work who wouldn't touch it! Suggested these guys who came and picked my car up from Stevenage, I was quoted 1K and that it would be ready in a few weeks.

 

Well bugger me sideways! Two weeks later I get a call "Tim, your Nissan is done!" which shocked me! Not used to being told that something on a car will take X time and then have that become reallity.

 

Not only that but what they quoted me is what I'm paying, 1K + VAT and they've even brought the car back down to Stevenage for me.

 

Burnt out clutches due to lack of fluid and KO'd torque convertor were the culprits. Fluid leakage was due to prop shaft vibby taking the rear seal out and ATF check tube not being secured to the bell housing! Pretty difficult to check the fluid level if you get my drift!

 

Anyway, I haven't driven it yet so that is yet to come to see just how the car is. But I came out of my work car park this morning and saw my automotive equivalent of Damien from The Omen sat in the garage car park over the road! With a crow stood on the roof and I could have sworn I could hear satanic latin chanting in the back of my head!!!

 

Will let you know how it is tomorrow once I get it back to de Wales.

 

Just an option for some of the guys who may not want to pay an extra 1500 squid or so for a fast road rebuild if you don't want or need it.

 

However, SE will be my next stop for the uprated Auto cooler as this is a must and essential safety measure.

 

 

 

Tim mate good to hear zed repaired, but it really does highlight the need to be extra vigilant with the fluid levels on zed`s, problem is these things just keep going till destruction ..and then it`s too late.

Will also need to get mine dyno'd again once the manual box is in. Perhaps we should arrange something ....

Yep, I'm mad for that Andy but my zorst and intake are gonna have to go on soon. I've promised the Mat Lad my stock zorts for his car asap.

 

Pete does dyno runs doesn't he? Can't we arrange something with him? That way I could arrange to get my gearbox cooler at the same time.

 

I'd like to go back to Warren's mates over near Watford (or wherever it was) for a direct comparision.

Seriously though cheers man, my bro has always done it every 3k including oil filter. has not messed about 2-3 mins before driving off and a que at the petrol station to let it cool down etc hence why its in such good condition for a Z31.

 

my clifford started the car up the other morning when the water temp got cold, damn i poo'd myself, i called the fitter thus where i found out that when water temp gets a bit low, as long as the car is in P or N it will start at warm the system up, like THANKS FOR TELLING ME!!!! now who's joking about knight rider huh?? hehehe.
