Our ex-racing greyhound Jack started to limp a few weeks ago. Took him to the vet who reckoned he could have injured his leg. They took an X-Ray and the result showed that his leg was fine and so they thought it could be his shoulder. Went in for another X-Ray, only to find that his shoulder is fine too. Took some more tests and came to the sad conclusion that he has bone cancer and may only have 3 months to live  . He's booked in for a biopsy next week to confirm it. We've only had him in the family for 2 years and it doesn't seem like 5 minutes. Always happens to the best of them, f***ing cancer.

cheers fellas. he was put to sleep this afternoon about 1345. his leg/shoulder had been getting worse and he was limping all the time so it was clear he was in pain, although he still kept grinning at people :D the local vet was a superstar as he came to our house to put him to sleep. saved us having to lug half a ton of Jack around which would have been a task in itself even without having to be careful not to knock his bad leg.

So sorry to hear this, it's a tough decision but you have to do the kindest thing. Take care.

gutted for you.

sorry to hear it

we had our greyhound put down a couple of months ago, i was devastated, we'd had him for 13yrs (a good age for a greyhound)... the house isnt the same without him, altho we've kept his ashes in a nice box on the shelf above where he used to sleep... i swear he's still in the house and lookin after us...

they make ace pets, ours was good with the kids, never put a foot wrong, well except killing a few cats, but if they're daft enough to jump in the garden what can ya do...
