nope tis not a muscle

people sometime say its LIKE a muscle, so if ya keep using it gets smarted, like a muscle gets stronger.

It's a switch some people have it switced OFF some people have it switched ON. :D

You have problems with the former then neil?

The brain is not a muscle, it is group of cells, joined together by nerve motor cells, and they communicate with each other useing chemical transporter synampses.

So no, it's not a muscle :D

The brain is an organ, not a muscle.

mus·cle Audio pronunciation of "muscle" ( P ) Pronunciation Key (msl)

n.

1. A tissue composed of fibers capable of contracting to effect bodily movement.

2. A contractile organ consisting of a special bundle of muscle tissue, which moves a particular bone, part, or substance of the body: the heart muscle; the muscles of the arm.

nope! it aint a muscle :) a muscle needs to connect to 2 bones or ligaments...

It's not a muscle.

Muscles are very different and much simpler (basically bundles of strands which pull things).

It's (a very big) part of the nervous system which controlls all the muscular systems.

You can't excercise it - you can only knacker it up really.

And you can tire it out really easily trying to answer questions like" Is a brain a muscle or an organ?"...lol

Not quite, the tongue is an independant muscle and does not have any ligaments connected to it. The hears is another example of this, and so is the womb in females. The muscle tissue around your intestines and stomach are the same.

You can excercise it, not in the same way as a muscle, but if you do not keep your brain active it does actually start to lose function. Also your brain is at it's biggest at birth, the cells start to die as soon as you are born, and are not replaced, where as muscles grow from birth and can then lose cells (if you're a lazy chump) or grow (if you're training like indian zx).

true man you're right about the tongue/heart etc. however, our brains do grow (not by a huge amount tho) as we can form new connections from learning and remembering new things.

either way, the brain aint a muscle :) i had a big discussion with my mate once about whether insects have brains. i knew i was right all along cos i took a psychology course at uni, he still disagrees though! :) :)

Think your way off the mark there bud
