Could a broken exhaust pipe (rust holes) cause vibrating from the back of the car which you would feel straight trough the seats? I have been considering buying a Z from a used car shop over here for a longer time, and otherwise it is quite nice, but I'm just very afraid about that vibrating.. I think it is the back wheel bearings, but the salesman (obviously, he want to sell the car before the vinter) insists on that it's the exhaust pipe that causes it. You can feel it stronger when you drive in specific speeds. Does someone know what this could be?

Could be the propshaft bearing causing the vibration, its quite common but I doubt its the exhaust causing it.

Okay, thanks guys. How much would new hicas balljoints or propshaft bearings be?

Can the propshaft be changed in parts, or do you have to change the whole thing at once? Whats the cost of it?

The bearing can be changed on the propshaft if that is all that is needed, never had it done myself but I could guess here it would cost in the region of £150, thats just a guess though, someone thats had it done will be able to tell you more accurately.

inner hicas balljoints 46 pounds each.

As above, the most common problem for vibration (particually from 40mph+) is the propshaft centre bearing...or the Rear gearbox mount collapsed causing the prop to be out of alignment.

Bearing is about £120 and 2 hours work

Gearbox mount is about £50 I believe
