I've seen some post here about people converted their Z's from left hand drive to right hand drive. How much would it cost to convert a right hand drive to a left hand drive? Is it hard to do?

If you are seriously looking for a LHD have a look on Ebay.de. I saw a couple on there recently for €6k ish. Obviously depends if you have import tax etc. I do have a mate in Finland at the moment and I will mail him to have a look around for you if you want. He is not a 300zx owner, but is in a position of use if you know what I mean.

Yep, I'm looking for a LHD. The import tax to Finland depends a little bit on the year and the mileage/condition, but it is around 5000-7000€. I would be really glad if your mate (Is he a native Finn btw?) could take a look for me if he just has time to. I've been looking around here to, but the cheap ones use to be in a quite bad condition compared to the price if you would import one yourself. What does the Z's cost in Belgium? you people want to convert from left to right hand drive and my dads wants to convert from right to left. lol prices for zeds in LHD countries such as france and germany i have noticed are more expensive. price of a stock car there u pay here for a modded one. (its because they are reare there i guess) anyone know where i can get a lhd dash board and everything else to convert it? or is it just cheaper to buy a LHD?

You could always buy a crashed LHD and take the needed parts from it. I was also btw interested in converting one from RHD to LHD, as the ones in Britain are quite a bit cheaper. The price difference could be because they are quite rare as you said, where I live I've still never in my hole life seen a Z32 on the road (Just the couple I've tested so far, and they have all been for sale by companies)

can't really find a crashed LHD here so would have to import the car from that particular contry. then it would have to portugal to have the change done as his the zed is there. i've only seen 1 LHD 300zx here. and another in autotrader some years back up for sale for £5,500 but called to late.

It's not unknown to import (say) a rust free (ish) early Z (240 or 260 etc) from California to UK, then go to the immense trouble to convert LHD to RHD. You can read more about it on http://www.zclub.net

 

But converting a car as complex as a Z32 from one RHD to LHD strikes me as more trouble than it's worth. Ask Topless about the humungous job of changing n/a to turbo without changing the side you sit on. His mechanic said "nothing fitted" and everything needed new bracketry.

 

It would be a lot cheaper to find a good LHD in a LHD country (eg US or Euro) and import from there. After all, that's why we in the UK import from Japan and don't bother importing LHD from US and converting to RHD.

good point there Gio. might be just better to pay a little extra for a LHD instead of probabaly ending up paying more and having more stress in trying to convert it.
