All from the same company

First tried just putting in nissan 300zx, non import - only showed 1 car (NA) - £1400

Tried 4 number plates of some random TT imports off autotrader (bearing in mind everyone else has been quoted nearly double for imports) - ranged from £890 - £950

Insurance has always confused me how they work out their prices (random number generator normally) but this is doing my head in, how can I have different prices for basically the same car and how did they come up with NA uk models costing more than import TT's  :headvswal

There is no such thing as a UK NA.

ALL UK are T-Top 2+2 Twin Turbo.

Imports are more expensive to insure than UK, even the NA.

na could have meant not applicable if you put a non turbo uk in the questionarre for the quote

if that makes sence lol

I'm with Bell Direct on my pulsar, I've just turned 23 and my insurance is a grand, mine is an import Group 20, so its worth giving them a go :D

Try Footman James in Birmingham There on the Net, Fully comp With DR10 For TT Import 1992 Aged 38 £260.00 with the wife as named driver (Not that shes ever gonna get a go while im still breathing !)

NOW THATS CHEAP? I pay £500 fully comp. jap TT with Groupama. I am 47. mind you I couldnt use my NCB as its used on my other car. I am going to keep the name of that company? Thanks.

My other option is to start a company up and get a motor trader policy? I have been told I could insure both cars and my bike on that. Even my sons car as an employee? (which is in my name anyway)

Read my list and weap: (I do)

300ZX. £500 p/a fully comp

Volvo S80 T6. £400 p/a fully comp

GSXR 750. £250 p/a fully comp

Primera (19 yr old named driver) £1400 p/a TPFT.

£2550 p/a on insurance.

try Carole Nash, they did my Jap spec NA Manual Zed for just over £600 fully comp with zero NCB (being used on other car), Social and commuting, no thatcham alarm requirement, kept on driveway.

don't forget there are two completely different 300ZX cars. Ours 1990 on is the Z32 and up to 1989 there was a Z31 like this

But they are both called 300ZX

Imports can be a lot more expensive. but depends on the insurer really.

Im 26 and pay £650 fully comp on a Import TT with Admiral.

A UK TT was about £23 cheaper to insure a year.

Just to clear confusion...

UK Spec one I entered was 1992 so Z32.

The reason I assumed it was NA was because it showed as "300 ZX 1990 ON etc.." the import ones showed as "300 ZX TURBO 1990 ON etc..."

Think I'll worry more closer to the time. At the end of the day I'm paying £1200 for insurance now so even if its max price its not much more.

If you are doing quotes online, if the option for Import is not there select Nissan Fairlady, as that is what it is called in Japan.

There have been a few on here who insure it as a 300ZX thinking no different to have policies canceled on them because the insurnace found out its an import.

Luckly no one had, had an accident at the time. I wouldnt like an insurnace company cancel my poilicy when I have an accident.

the 300 zx 1990 on would be correct for a UK Z32

Mines July 1989 and had some problems cos

everyone lists it as a Z31 but its obviously

not.

I use Heritage Classic Insurance, NO NCB, 29, 3 points MS90 which is not a good one to have, fully comp, 5000 miles policy, but ya just give em another £100 if ya go over, taking it to 7500 mile.

All for £397.50

cheap as chips, and they don't care that is an import.

I was worried about this, so made them write on the policy that i had told them

it was an import, and they did.

Highly recommend them

HTH

I forgot to say i am limited to 4000 miles with an option to pay more if i go over, also car is garaged when possible !! as i have 2 other cars. I was unable to use my NCB as i use it on another car but they gave me a Discount NCB Booster thing ? which helped

Ive used Footman James for 5 years + no problems yet

hmm. the footman james site says no grey imports or mods. is a grey import different from an import, or does it just mean no imports whatsoever?

hehe. nice :)

footman james quoted me £2800 for a twin turbo, non mod, non import...ill...thats almost the cost of the fictional car i entered!

Ignore the import bit and ring them direct i had the same thing when i was trying to get a quote, They have a specialist insurance section and they will qover the import. Mine is a Jap import and its covered with them. :xxx:
