they are more prononced in males than females(male is in picture), this should be the best way to check as most visible. this shows the usual size differance

yep, first pic is a male. the females have them but are less pronunced. looking at the the tail the male's would carry the width further down the tale than the females. the head of a male usually broader than the females and you can count the bumps in the tail, but this is only in mature animals of a sexual age and does seem to be hit a miss. savalon is a good antiseptic
