try been self employed :cry: then they realy hit you with tax when i retire iam foooking of abroad because if you have money and you cant live at home for ill health they take all your cash and house to pay for a home :xxx: but if your on the dole they pay everything. my gran did have over 200k with house and cash but now shes in a home its down to about 30k its sike you have to work your guts out for nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!! rant over :x:

You'll be lucky if you see more than 31p of every pound you earn mate (on average). If you buy petrol, diesel, LPG, alcohol, fags, smoking materials or insurance you are tripple taxed. This is because you pay income tax, value added tax and duty, except on insurance where you pay a premium tax.

 

Not to mention also that everything you buy is taxed multiple times before it reaches you. For example, a loaf of bread. The bakery has its goods delivered and pays tax on them AND the transport. They then pay for the tax on the staff wages to make the bread as well as energy used in cooking, mixing etc. Then you have to ay tax for it to be shipped to the supermarket, again workers cost and extra 20% of their take home wages in tax which the consumer foots the bill for. Same again to workers who sort and stack the bread. And then to top it all of when you buy it, the government takes ANOTHER 17.5% of the total cost which again the consumer foots. Also to add into the equation (spelling??) the transport costs go up with diesel duty and have a guess who foots the bill for that?

 

If we talk imported goods (i.e. majority of electrical goods, cars, carpets, moulded plastic products to name a few) you have ALL of that and then import duty on top.

also assuming you make it to the end of your life actually having saved something after they take your money to pay for the care home you cabn expect a 40% inheritance tax beforre you pass it onto your kids!
