NZR at all- Bit of a wierd one.

Need a bit of advice.

Is there an easy way of telling whether an interior wall is a suporting wall without sucking it and waiting to see if the upstair becomes the downstairs?

Take a floor board up upstairs and see which

way your joists run.

Shit - I was afraid of that.

The said wall is a bathroom wall thats sides on to a small room thats accessed from the outside, i.e. outhouse. I am looking to extend the bathroom and by the sounds of it I am going to need a RSJ.

What should I be looking for? Which way should I hope they are going in?

You don`t wanna do it like that! you wanta do like this!

See if joists above run towards the wall ie are supported by it the floor boards will run at right angles to the wall if the case.

Erm gotta mate who can get get RSJ`S no questions asked but do not use the local multi storey if I was you.

Joists either run from the front to the back of the house, or from the left to the right.

joists are supported by the wall at either end, ie front and back wall or left and right.

Any internal wall that runs in the opposite direction to the joists is a supporting wall.

Or in simpler terms, if your wall runs the same way as your joists it is not a supporting wall.
