Well bought the chevy home last night and trial fitted it with bell-housing and box fitted.

Obvious mods needed upto now include having to extend the gear selector on the box as it's way shorter than the auto! :wack: -good job I cut a good length of poopra prop off then! :D

The sump needs notching-not a lot, but will give plenty clearance-think I'll buy a new sump and modify that(only £50!)

The o/s exhaust will be a challenge as the starter sits between the block and steering column-but apart from those little hic-ups well pleased how she sits in the bay! :D Here's a few pics-look at the room in here!!

This shows how close the mounts are to original points-quite an easy fab-job....

And lastly, I reckon I've lost a lot of weight(autobox weighs a fookin' ton!)

look how high she sits now and that's with the engine and box in!!

Only thing to do here is to get her finished with all ancillaries etc settle the springs and see if I need shorter ones! :smw:

It's the Chevy small block-5.7 litre but seriously considering a stroker kit for it

as the stuff for these is soooo cheap! that will take it to around 6.2 litres and loads of low end gunt! :D

poss top end will depend on gearing etc-we'll see!-the main reason I'm going for the 5 speed manual over yank auto! :x:

LOL!-It's the 350 dude, going on carb as the whole electronic thing is a BIG reason for this swap-I like it simple! :o

Box' is a Supra Turbo :D

just out of interest, what kind of performance are you hoping to acheive compared to a "normal" v6 TT?

by the way its looking good!

I sure ain't expecting it to be as smooth as the v6 bud!-but will have brutal torque and straight off the throttle too! :D -just a nice trait of the v8 dude,

should be fun!

Cool !

Bear in mind the 700r4 auto box with a mild re-build kit, approx £200, and you can do it yourself ! See attached photo !!

The 700r4 in my Camaro does 38mph per 1,000rpm, when in lock-up overdrive.

A rebuild kit with quick shift settings will handle up to 700 horses !!

A stroker kit would take it up to383ci (ish) and it would redline around 5.000rpm. :D

If you decide to go Injection, have a read at this site.

Have used this guy in the states and can recommend him. http://www.chevythunder.com Tell him what you are looking for and he will knock you up a loom to suit just about anything !!

That includes the relative ECM to work the engine management system and the 700r4 auto box.

Keep the piccys coming. Will follow this one with interest.

Will also see if I have an ols sump kicking around, any use to you I will send it down, even to experiment with !

All the best,

Alan.

Thanks for that mate!-all info greatly received! :D

Looked into all options on the gear box side and really was 50/50 to go manual or not!

I'll see if the current set-up gives any probs first as I would prefer the manual

Again thanks a lot! :duffer:

so when ya done, how much is it gonna cost for mine to be done????? buddy ;)

actually, V8 in my tranny sounds like fun ;)

Just showed this to my mate who is a real Yank V8 man, he thinks you are, in his words not mine, "A Crusader for common sense, coz there aint no substitute for cubic inches !" :D

Think its a compliment !!

Also says he has a freshly re-built 455ci Rocket motor from an Oldsmobile if you want to go the full hog !! Fitted with a 850cfm Holley double pumper, it should return around 7 to the gallon. (ish)

Still better consumption than Mac`s ! :x:

Later,

Alan..
