    Funnily enough, they've had flying cars for a while now...... Only we tend to call them aeroplanes round these parts ;)

    The crazy thing is those engine pods don't actually contain Jet engines, each one has two minature rotary engines inside (with blades attached), giving the car a total of 8 engines, meaning there is a ridiculous amount of redundancy in the propulsion system.

     

    It also runs on ordinary pump petrol and if I remember correctly it can get around 20mpg, has a total of about 850bhp and a top speed of 350mph.

     

    Should more than 4 of its engines break down or if the onboard computers fail (it has a few backups), then on top of all that its fitted with a parachute!!!!!!

     

    Also I think the production ones are going to look more like planes with foldable wings, instead of that lovely red prototype :(
