Just found out wednesday that my finish date in the Royal Marines is 28th October, next month for christ sake! My actual end of employment isn't until feb 1st so didn't expect to be out for at least a few months yet, but when owed leave and terminal leave is taken into account it brings the date forward to the 28th. Better get my act together! I've been working really hard all year on getting qualified in what I already do (networking), and have got my MCSA and CCNA and working on my CCNP at the moment. I'm well prepared but it still feels like a shock because of the massive lifestyle change. Dave

It really is what you make of it mate. I've had a great 6yrs, done all I joined for and not had any particuarly nasty moments. Been to the arctic, the desert, the jungle, done a lot of time in the mountains, was jumping out of planes into the sea every few months for a few years.

Its probably not as gucci as you might imagine though, for every day you spend jumping out of planes or what ever, you spend 10 doing something either really boring, really tiring, really cold, really wet or all of the above! Rough with the smooth like any job I guess. I've been doing computer networks so have it comfier than some.

Its a single mans job though IMO, most older Marines do have partners but many have problems. I don't want to put the lady through all that, and don't want to not see any kids I may have in the future.

I'll post you some snazzy pictures in the members section mate! Dave

6yrs is a bloody long time (well for me it is).... hope the life style change goes well!! Would love to see some pics when you get time! Good luck with what ever you decide to do next!!! :duffer:

Best of Luck Dave. At least you will have some fantastic memories of events most average joe's just dream about doing. Some people work in the same factory all their life, imagine that!! ;)
