The PSP really annoys me, the reason the launch has been delayed so long is because they were selling so quickly in America that they were worried they might run out so they cancelled the European launch, gave all our stock to the US and decided to make us wait a few months while they made more.

Also the American units have a screen that is inferior to the Jap version, the screen we're getting is even worse quality than that (re: cheaper for Sony), yet they'll be charging us the most for the worst version of the PSP and pocketing the savings they make.

 

Im still gonna get one tho.- they're bloody amazing

Yeah, I got fed up with the marketing hype, and if what you're saying is true, this gets up my nose even more. Went into a store a while ago to see if I could get one. Not out yet. Then why all the adverts, boxes etc?!? I may be the only whinging old git in the place, but I'm really getting fed up of this kind of corporate marketing campaign - it doesn't increase my anticipation at all, it just frustrates me, and is generally really infuriating.

 

Anyway, have subsequently decided that I have little enough life as it is, and what little is left will definitely disappear if I get one of these things... so it's probably for the best.

That is a little like the Gameboy advanced a few years ago. They delayed the launch of it by nearly a year because the normal gameboy was selling well.

I have to admit though, that despite my disdain for over-hyped marketing campaigns, the PSP does look cool.

I never even saw an advert or feature before I bought this today... I heard on the radio that it was supposed to be good so went and got one today... I never pay any attention to any marketing, it's out when it's out is how I see it... it's done when it's done etc.

 

Anyway, just finished playing the 5 games I got with it, and not one crap one, some are pretty damn good with features I've never seen before... check out Mercury... now that is a cool innovative game... I like! And the UMD movies are CRYSTAL clear, I just watched a bit of Ghostbusters... wow :bow:

From the States right? I'm over there for a holiday and conference in a week or so and was thinking that if I was going to get one it might be the best place to do it.

Don`t get one from the US, the games are regionalised like DVD`s. Get a Jap one, they are multi-region (just like mine!!!)

no they arn't I have one from the USA and there is no region encoding on the games, the UMD's are region encoded though

 

 

bonus on mine is i have 1.5 firmware at the moment so i can play snes emulators and other things, just completed monkey island 1&2 and day of the tentacle, took me back to being a kid :D
