I've always had a 'pay as you go' mobile

I'm going to get a contract one tomorrow - probably some sort of simple tariff for about £30 a month.

Any advice as to what network / phone to get? I know f-all about mobile phones!

Cheers gents

ive had a mobile for over 8 years now

went through the carphone warehouse, and chose an o2 tarrif (not sure which deal i have its a work phone)

but i know i use it all the time and i dont get bills bigger than 60 quid a month at the most

also had no probs at all from either carphone warehouse or o2

O2 250 i'm on. With insurance (24 phone replacement) its £35 a month. can have the lurvely nokia 6230i free. First 6 months is 500 minutes (x-network anytime:)) and 500 texts, further 6 months 250 minutes (x-network anytime :)) and 250 texts. Propper bo!

T-mobile MDA Compact, is the nuts just got it myself, £29 amonth 200 mins anytime and the phone free.

I have installed TOM TOM 5 on it and it is great, also has 1.3mpixel camera built in.

All the use of a pda but still in a pocket size

Thanks lads - some good advice.

Do they charge you for itemised billing or insurance or anything like that as well as the regular monthly charge?

insurance is usually extra, but mine is something like £20 a year, which includes me gettin pissed off and throwing it against a wall.

Me : I'd like to claim on my phone insurance

Carphone warehouse : Ok what happened

Me : Well i got pissed at my phone and blew it up with some home made plastic explosive

CPW : Oh, i see. Well, these things happen. You should have a new phone on your doorstep tomorrow morning :D

Itemised billing comes as standard with all networks / tarrifs i believe. 'm on my 4th contract and i have never had to pay extra for it!

btw i pay the insurance monthly as part of my tarrif so its like £1.67 a month or something silly. Called "Lifeline" from CPW.

Any chance of blaggin a ride in ur zed when ur pushing 30psi mac? Just wanna compare it to my fathers 355 ;)

3G. I am fazing out my Voda for 3G. I got the Nokia 6680 (fantastic phone) Free and half price rental and also a FREE Motarola video phone wuth a 1 year totally free contract for the other half. OK the catch is for her phone you pay the bill for 3 months then claim every penny back as long as you dont go over the alotted free minutes. If you do then you only pay for them anyway?

Sounds too good to be true but it is.

BTW. its through dial a phone. and the Nokia 6680 has got 1.3 MP camera 1 hour video front and rear cameras (rear is 1.3 MP) No games but I am sure they can be added

I'm on Vodafone - have been for years.

Happy with coverage.

I swap phones every year.

whatever feels good in my hand - that's the one.

currently have Nokia 6600.

Does this and that and some more of the other and is generally clever enough to tell me just about everything and do everything - all at a million miles an hour blah feggin blah.

I asked the salesman who enthused about this computer-i-yer-hand -gizmo -

"if it rings, can I press a button and talk to the caller?"

Puzzled look from geek-in-a-box behind the counter "eerr, yes, of course"

Me - " then be wheesht and gimme"

:)
