The company I work for was taken over recently by a right bunch! They wanted me to do all sorts of things which I consider unethical (such as taking on a guy on a full time basis, getting him to work his ass off for 6 months re-painting the site (to save money on proper decorators) and then knock him back to part time when he's done it or get rid of him. Also insisted that I had to come in at weekends etc to help him! There's lots more.

Anyway, I decided that I was having nothing to do with it and have found another job. The new employer wants me to start next week, so I only gave 1 instead of 4 weeks notice, however I did offer to help the new manager out when they start. I have also left the office in a good state with everything labelled and most of the loose ends tied up. I'm just not going to do the nasty shit they want me to.

The following is the e-mail he has just sent me.... read it in the voice of Gordon Brittas as that is exactly who he looks/sounds like!

"To be frank, I fine your response staggering to the point of offensive!

You state "an on-site hand-over, although desirable is not essential...". Who do you think you are? I am the Managing Director of a £50m company and I determine what is required - not you!

It is clear by your attitude that we are not going to get anywhere and your blatant refusal to act professionally and work your Notice is now clear.

May I remind you that this now becomes a Breach of Contract issue and accordingly we reserve the right to commence legal proceedings against you, should we suffer financial loss as a result of your actions."

I don't think he took it too well!  :wack:

Anyone else worked for a jumped up, gobby twerp? How did you get out?

Well at least it looked like you were good at your job mate, time to move on and say bye to ****ers LOL;)

Are you paid weekly or monthly ? Generally you only have to give as much notice as your pay period, the company has to give the full notice as defined in your contract.

Also, courts seldom find against employees, especially if it would affect their ability to earn a living.

I know I should have given more notice, but this bunch would get rid of me in a heart beat if they felt like it. So glad to be moving to pastures new, with a professional company that's very well known in the industry. Looking forward to handing my keys in! LOL!

I got out of a situation just like this recently with my superiors trying to treat me like a child or beneath them in some way...

After 5 years with the last 6 months becoming unbearable under new management I told them where to stick it and although it was hard for a month or two, I'm now in a job I love and have been promoted twice in as many months earning more then I ever would for that hellhole I used to work in...

So, good on 'ya mate, and I really hope it works out for you! :hyper:

Pay period has little to do with notice if you have a contract which says "you must give 1 month's notice" that is self explanatory. But the court thing is right. Employers rarely take staff to court for breach of contract as:

a) too costly/time consuming/not generally worth it

b) employers hardly ever win.

Call his bluff mate, a disgruntled employee working notice is far more dangerous to a company so it is perfectly normal now for employers to let someone go early or send them on garden leave rather than make them work the last month. Although if they insist you don't work they still have to pay you throughout the notice period.

You have asked to leave early so they don't have to pay you until the end of the month.

If the w@nker still won't budge, say he has "made unreasonable requests of you which are outside the scope of your job description. Consequently you are unable to continue in your current employment and your termination of your employment will be interpreted as constructive dismissal"

They won't risk a tribunal hearing for that, he may make threats to scare you but that's all hot air. Their solicitors/HR department will advise him to let it go if they have any sense.

Good luck mate,

Richard :smw:

I have something to say............ It's better to burn out than to fade away..... :tt2:

Onwards and upwards rob :nana2:

I also have been in similer circumstances and have never looked back as its only got better.

"Who do you think you are? I am the Managing Director of a £50m company and I determine what is required - not you!"

Sounds a bit of a :xxx:

I walked out of a job giving almost no notice a few years ago - my boss was unhappy but didn't do anything.

Why not burn the soles of his feet with a hot crack pipe?

Did you get a new contract when the new bunch took over? I'd question the validity of an "ongoing" contract if you didn't.

If push comes to shove, you could always threaten him with "Constructive Dismissal" (see link).

Thanks for that. Yup, I could have them if they play up, as I have copies of various e-mails, and also witnesses who will be more than willing to speak up as they are not employed by the company :hyper:

I prefer the crack pipe option though! LOL!!

I had a problem a senior engineer a few years back and when I said Iwas leaving he said "Put your keys on the table and f*ck off". "Can't do that" says I "I have a load of stuff in the back" " so take it home, empty your stuff out and then briong it back and F*ck off"

Now normally I would have reared up, but instead I took his van home, emptied it of 2 Facom 42 piece socket sets, a roebuck 34 piece deep socket set, a 24v battery drill, a large selection of handtools and parts and took it back :)

Though I was hoping he'd turn up for my leaving drink, but he wasnt that stupid :mac1:

I hate working for others..I decided to take matters into my own hands and become a full time ebayer!!..make more per week than I ever did in a month!!

Though I was hoping he'd turn up for my leaving drink, but he wasnt that stupid :mac1:
