Traction Control is a must!

Now its snowy Traction Control is a must. It doesnt make you grip loads but it keeps your wheels at a managable speed. Example, pulling off. With the TC on I still skid but I can just keep the power at roughly the same place and the TC doesnt allow the Revs move any higher untill it starts to grip. Then no matter how much power you try to put on it wont allow it.

I turned it off and tired to pull off, straight away the wheels started to spin, but as soon as they did the revs shot up to about 4000 because of the slip and thus making the wheels spin even more. I let off and tried to ease some power in. In no time at all the wheels spun.

Forgetting that I had it on in a car park, I tried to spin the back end out at a low speed to save me doing a 50 point turn. To my amazment the TC wouldnt allow it. The wheels did spin very slightly but not enough to make the back end swing and I ended up nearly hitting a parked car. I say nearly, but what I mean was I still had to do a 50 point turn to get out.

I can not praise enough how good Traction Control is. In the dry it is hardly used. In the wet you may feel it kick in and you think, shit I could have been in that wall. In the snow, it allows you to concertrate more on where you are going and steering, and the TC makes sure the back end stays at the back.

If you think you are good enough to drive with out it. Well done, just dont call it before you try it. If you are thinking of getting it, do it.

At first I was a little disapointed. But that was it was used properly and then all my disapointment went in one controled misfire of the engine.

Thought I should share this with you.

Bye

i have to agree it is a very nice bit of kit.Although it definatly makes you drive faster biggrin.gif It does make it nicer to drive in these horrendious conditions. This morning my tc was cutting in at every corner 2000rpm. In the dry mien cuts in even more lol

you lot must be mad to drive a Zed in the snow/ice. Lucky we cant get into ours this morning there was a layer bout 1cm thick of ice all over.

Unfortunatly it's my only car so I have to.

Scares the shit out of me at least once every journey in this weather. Have only had it about 6 weeks now & it's the first RWD car I've driven. When you're expecting it, it's great fun, but when it slides for no apparent reason (especially when one hand is on the wheel & one is on the stereo) it takes me 'till the end of the journey for my heart to stop pounding.

TC is definatly next on my shopping list, a good investment if it keeps my car (& me) in one piece smile.gif

tc sounds like a good investment...

what's the best on the market ? which have you got installed ?

later Tim...

Got the Racing Logic one, with launch control and slip control. We usually get them on group buys on the forum and save a small fortune.

Look out for the next one Tim.
