Umm, that’s a laptop, right? I'm not sure your GFX card is fast enough.. Go to Hardware > Device Manager > Display Adapter and tell us what you see. BF2 needs a damn good comp. to run smooth..

To add to the pervious post, my brother has a Athlon Sempron 2800+, XFX 6600GT etc. self build and it is be able to run most new games quite good, but he told me BF2 with a little bit better GFX settings was almost too much for it...

yup..its a laptop..Dell inspiron 5610

(multiple moniters) on XGI Volari-XP5 v2.087.DELL

I dont know where/how to find :-

"Hardware > Device Manager > Display Adapter"

please help as i am a little bit :wack:

My mistake, I forgot the beginning of that :) Start > Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Display Adapter

I have 2.6 g P4 with 700odd mb memory, and it runs fine BUT it needs a compatible graphics card.

No laptops are officially supported by EA games, they have special mobility versions of just about everything inside so their hardware isn't compatible.

If you do get it running on a laptop then count yourself lucky as it wasn't designed to.

IMHO the spec required to run the game is too high, although I'll probably get fired if I say any more...

I think your GFX Card is a 32 Mb one, and i really doubt you computer is able to run BF2. :( But the best way to check that is by downloading the Demo Here (scroll down to 'DEMOS') Lets hope I'm wrong :)

Yep, but you can always give it a try :)

Cant find any more info on it where you say apart form this:-

XGI Volari-XP5 v2.087.DELL

TurboZ suggested it might only be a 32mb card and i will need a 3d

So who knows what ive got and what it is then please?

I am downloading the demo to see if it will run and i spose that should let me know??

lol...just read ur replys whilst i typed the above...hehe

I'll give it a go then but wont hold my breath...

Is there any way i can upgrade to run it??

can i get abetter card or is it just not worth it?

Yep, I think thats a 32Mb card. I've read somwhere that the Inspiron 5160 supports a max 64mb gfx card (nVidia 5200 (6200?) Go) or something like that, but I dont think even that one will run BF2..

BTW, how do I change my avatar? Do I need to be subscribed?

Well worth it fella ;)

Yep, the best card I found compatible with the 5160 is the nVIDIA GeForce FX Go5200 64MB

Sorry m8, the game asks for 128MB as an absolute minimum- fraid the only way to play it is to get another computer. AFAIK this was the first game to require 128 minimum, but the others will follow suit pretty soon.

Although I have heard of some people somewhere using hacks to get the game running on hardware it doesn't support.
