Ok guys I've been through all the normal stuff fuses and connections checked but the ABS on the car doesn't work. The light comes on and goes out as per MOT requirements. But jump on the brakes and the wheels lock solid. Any Idea's greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Craig

There is a ABS diagnostic.

Have a look at the online manual on how to activate it.

Then, start the car. (The ABS light should go out after starting.) If the ABS warning light doesn't come on drive at 20mph+ for a min. Once the error light comes on, stop the car (not the engine) and count the number of flashes on the ABS diag light (on the ABS unit).

Light doesn't flash comes on with other ignition light goes out on startup..

craig, mine locks up on only one wheel. i havnt looked at it yet but i think it might be a dirty pick up on the hub, because the sensor isnt open or closed circuit, it wont flag an error, but i might fail to see the notches turning on the driveshaft.???

That will throw up an error.

I tested it one day with one of the sensors.

I was changing one, and I made it so the sensor was just a little too far away to detect the wheel. As soon as I reached about 5mph the light came on. I also tried it with the sensor unplugged. Then the ABS stayed on.

Mine does the same the nearside front wheel locks first but I can lock the lot up if I try hard enough..Strange one

Ever since my car came out of the Garage the ABS light comes on when I start to drive and woun't go out. Yet it feels when braking as though the ABS is on overtime.

Have you run a ABS diagnostic?

I've read the FAQ on it but the light doesn't flash it works as if all was normal.

Is there another way to run the diag ??

Thanks

Craig
