Just installed new black ink cartridge into my mothers

Lexmark X1180, but there is no black ink coming out on test print. Tried old

nearly empty one back in to test, and black ink was there then. Reinstalled

new one, and nothing.

WTF is all that about??

anyone?

cheers

Check at the bottom of the cartridge there is not a clear bit of sticky tape which needs peeling off as this is the norm these days. Are the print heads on the cartridge or is there just a pipe for the ink to flow through? If the heads are on the cartridge then there will DEFINITELY be a bit of clear plastic. If its a pipe the printer shold have its own system where it pierces the cellophane (spelling!?!?!)

thinks she's going to tomorrow, but just wanted to know if there were any tricks

i didn't know about

Is it a geniuine cartride you're using as the X1180 is a bugger - you can only use offical lexmark cartridges in it and it remembers if 3rd party one have been used in it's EPROM so be careful!! I service them! Check all the contacts on the print head cart are shiny and not pealed off..

hhhmmm

Ive got this problem with a DELL A920 (which i beleive is a Lexmark sort of?)and its not new cartridges im using there merely re-filled through the top.

I read somewhere that you can trick this so called EPROM to think there normal cartridges...Is this true?

Or if you told me would you have to kill me :(
