ok simple terms, take hose off rad, shove a hosdepipe in and run water through system then refix hose on rad, mix that lot with distilled water and pour it in slowly, once full, with heater on and bleed screw on rad open run engine and top up as needed to get rid of any air in the system.

right i got no heater , i had to bypass the matrix the other week.

also i am led to believe the aircon has to be set up and something else.. i dont fancy fkn-up this engine just yet.. if ya know what i mean!!!! :nono:

and distilled water????? i aint got none here or will have for a while.. cant i use water from the garden hose?

If the matrix is bypassed you dont need to touch the heater, as for the air con I dont know of any reason why you would need to do anything with that, maybe someone else can shed some light on that, but I have done a few flushes and refills now and not touched the air con and had no problems, hardest part is getting air out of the system.

No doesnt have to be distilled, but if you are as fussy as me you use it as it only cost £2.50 for a gallon from any parts store, if not tap water will do the job and its not really that big a job, any decent garage will do it if you are really bothered about it.

added link.. you can tell im not with it tonight!!!

Read it and that is so you get the coolant into the heater matrix but as yours is bypassed you can forget about it.

ok last stupid arse question..

i have got 5 X 1 litre bottles of that concentrate.

i thought that it would need 10 litres of coolant would this as a 50/50 coolant/water mix be ok..

just gimme the..... big arse stupid welsh git , here ya go, this is how you fkn do it, you plank, god im sick and tired of trying to help you by answering this damn thread, but i will carry on as you subscribed and you seem like a nice guy, but if you cant get this right then for fuks sake get a damn skateboard, but then again you would probably fuk that up, so prehaps you should get a damn plant, but then again you would probably kill it... sorta answer in a help type form.

after that... i aint got a damn clue!!!!!!

thanks again matey..

ok tomorrow im gonna drop the coolant

undo the drain hose on the bottom of rad

and two plugs under engine??

then flush with water from hose pipe (not too much pressure)

then reseal plugs underneath

then first pour in the coolant

then top up with water again run car for 15-20 mins topping up as needed, run round for 15 mins then check and top up again

thats ok then? if so this threads closed.

many thanx suffolk.. ur a star!!

as for the antifreeze, if you put it all in first you may find you can only get a ltr or two of water in, your better off mixing it before you put it in, or doing a ltr of antrifreeze, then a ltr of water ....

you big fat welsh git go buy a plant

ere.. where did you get the fat bit from??? cheeky monkey!! :hyper:

i wouldnt undo the two drains on the engine if i were you, snap one off and you fooked.

all you got to do is blow as hard as you can down the top rad hose into the engine, that will push most of the old water out.

if you make sure the car is parked on a slope with the front of the car at the highest and the back lowest, it makes it a hell of a lot easier to get all the air out. when vent plug is taken out the rad the water fills from the heater matrix/back of the block first, and sweeps the air out to the front.

right i got on with this today..

before i start big thank you to suffolkzx who game me some very helpful advice on the phone(good job too!!!) just goes to show why this member club is as good as it is.

right here we go..

ok i opened the petcock under the rad then took the cap and bleed screw out.. nothing came out!!

boll*x i thought, ok i took the top hose off then the bottom.. woosh out it came.. right. took the petcock screw out and the small slot in the thread was full of hard gunk.. scraped it out, and checked the hole that was blocked too.. fk..

right .. out came the rad.. not that easy i found out, not standard is it, its a fkn kakimoto assembly.. so that took a while to get out.. ok an hour or so..!!

right got that out and blasted water into every hole for about two hrs, i have even got the radiatior soaking overnight with water inside to loosen more out.. (just a thought.. now the rad is off can i use rad flush in it and give it a dam good shake and flush before putting it back on the car??) if theres a leak i will get a new rad if need be.. shouldnt be though it all looks fine..

will strip and clean shroud assy tmrw

took the fan out as well while i could that was absoloutly stinking, i had to scrape shit off it before i could get to the bolts!!. got them off and it still stuck there for a sec..

so tomorrow the plan is remove the pipes and clean em clean inside the front where i can get to. re-assemble the rad and pieps and re-fill with water only.then let the car run while topping up for 15 mins then drop the whole lot again.. then flush the rad one more time then re-fill with coolant and water. then top up for the next day or so as needed.

hows that for my first time????!!  :hyper: :hyper:

as usual a few pics attatched..

the fan needs cleaning.. by the way dont it look wierd on the blades,, the spacing on them!

and the kakimoto radiator assy theres a few other bits to it also! gotta cleant that out in morning. also the logo on the top isnt a sticker its embossed into the plastic so it is a kaki shroud and radiator, kakimoto on radiator metal also

once again many thanx to those who reply'd to the thread and to suffolkzx for the time on the phone.

next... the oil change.....NOT!!! ryan can do that bugger same time as my gearbox oil.. i think i will leave that one to the experts

thanks again all

Nice one, you have been busy, now an oil change is easy compared to this, and seeing as you will want it done a couple of times a year your best off watching Ryan do it then have a go yourself ;) ;)

as per the question in the post^^^

while the radiator is off can i use a rad flush in there and give it a good shake and flush it all out before i re-attatch it to the car? or shal i just leave it with another good flush in the morning?.. there is still a little in there see.. i dont think this thing has been cleaned out for a long time!!

to save you hassle in the future you can remove the lower part of the fan shroud and you dont need to remove the viscous fan blade just lift out rad hey presto

ah but as the shroud isnt standard it comes apart differently..

fkn kaki stuff aint it!! all wierd shit in there..

I would just leave it and flush it again in the morning, I believe these flushes require a certain amount of heat and pressure in the water to work and there has been loads of posts on here in the past about why not to use flushes and additives. If you still want to use a flush put it in when you refill the engine first time and run for 15 mins then flush it out. Do a search on here first though to see what problems and thoughts other people have on flushes etc.
