After waiting two weeks my 300zx was meant to be ready for today, ive been waiting all day for the phone call to say "MR PHILLIP your car is ready when you are"..The reason for the two week delay was the service which inc timing belt and water pump and rear bushes. The garage have just told me that the rear stearing rack now needs replacing. ARRRRHHH I dont think im meant to own a 300, things just go from bad to worst. I have giving the garage 1K deposit, what should I do as Ive been waiting two weeks and it could take another week or so....

On a positive note i guess at least they have been honest about the fault and have said that it will be rectified. A pain in the preverbial when you are waiting for your car though..

Its been the longest two weeks of my life, why cant a two week hoilday feel this long lol

Rather than having them fit a new rack id go for the HICAS eliminator option....saves you doing it at a later date.

Depends whether you like the hicas steering or not.

Matthew the HICAS rack very rarely goes wrong it is more likely to be the steering rod bushes on the HICAS either inner or outer either way its only a few hours work to replace them so should not be a problem

Ryan

ive only drivin the car for about 15 minutes and that was only a test drive...

thats not gonna help if the inner and outer bushes are shot as these will still need to be replaced if there shot even if your doing an elimination :smash:

 I don't know your garage and do not want to get into a flame war etc but i have yet to see a failed rack , I see plenty of HICAS arm bushes both inner and outer that are shot but never the rack itself , I would ask the question ......Why they think its shot i should imagine they think its a one piece and do not realise the arms are seperate

Ryan knows his "nuts" from his "ball joints" mate i know who i would trust!!

I just wish that Ryan was working on my car, I would of had it by now...

my local garage tried to say mine had gone but it was only the rear bushes

after asking ryan i went for bushes and now its sorted

The first thing that they changed was the bushes, oh well on the plus side Im not paying for it....
