I've had a TT 300zx, now have a M3 Evo. The EVO is faster 0-60 and a higher top end (standard v standard). My Auto TT 300zx was in top shape.

I raced an e36 m3 in safety boost and there wernt much in it

So what are the figures then?

Stock Zed will beat an E36, especially at the top end.

Stock E46 slightly quicker, but nothing a bit of extra boost could'nt sort.

Yeah, new M3 does 0 - 60 in either 4.5 or 4.9 seconds, can't remember which, but whatever, it's very fast.

IT'S STILL ONLY A REP'S CAR WHATEVER THE PERFORMANCE

LOL, reps and bully-boys (not all, but many).

Silly people. It has 321bhp and is lighter than the Zed. Hardly to be sniffed at. It is faster than my Zed was, and its outpaced a R34 GTR. I thought the same as you guys when I had the Zed, but the M3 is truly an awesome car.

The cars done 160mph so far - when playing with the GTR.

Strewth, that's pretty impressive. Understand, I'm not dissing it from an engineering / technical viewpoint: it's a work of genius, and probably has a lot more leg-room in the back. It's more of a comment on BMW drivers generally: I'm sick and tired of these people (i) driving right up my backside and trying (and failing) to intimidate me, (ii) never indicating, and (iii) generally treating all other drivers as inferior scum. The cars themselves I don't have a particular issue with: they're comfortable, stylish, most of them look pretty good (although I'm not so sure about the new 7-series), and the M-range has generally awesome performance.

I agree with the comment on BMW drivers in general - total tossers. I have 318 owners trying to take me on dispite the badge thats on my boot.

And yes, no-one lets me out at junctions........... ;)

It took months or ummming and erring as I was indeed worried about the image the cars portray. I bought it purely for its performance and the way it drives. I'll definately upgrade to an M5 next - it doesnt have that shitty image which is good. :)

Well being NA its always going to be expensive. Supercharging is one way of getting monsterous perfomance. Only for hardcore modders though. I enjoy the car more than I did the Zed mainly due to the performance being there every single day, whatever the weather. It has better traction as well.

The people I bought the car off (IMC) laughed when I offered to snap the indicator off as it wouldn't be needed...... ;)

But dave... If you go to tesco's and do a bit of shopping then come out to the car park dont you have to blip the remote to see what one is yours. :x:

I raced a new one ('04) coming back from ztech a while back. All boring straight line stuff on the motorway. Was pretty interesting, as soon as we hit it he was much more responsive and pulled a car length or so on me, but as soon as the laggy old beast spooled up, I could reel him in and pass him easy.

Most of this was 50mph up though, off the mark it'll probably have you.

so basicly i need a superchip boost controller and air filter right? how much cud i have in terms of bhp

Don't get a superchip, their Z program is terrible.

You'll get around 330bhp on a good, otherwise standard car with all those mods and an exhaust. Increase in mid range is impressive though

Lol. This is true - but my cars purple so its all good. ;)

Wonder what engine size it was? No way of telling really.

Nothing wrong with a decent beemer mate. I just wouldnt wanna get beat by one

I think an M3 is my next choice nice looking car with reliable power :x:

The M3 power BMW is a great car i'm sure, but I would just be too embarrassed to go out in public and drive one, I mean the image of the car is terrible imo.

Now the M5 is a differant matter, it has a much better image imo.
