Well I have had a couple of beers and getting all deep and that and watching ID. Well I got thinking, they decide to use a computer virus to destroy the aliens. Great but wouldn't they have a seriously advanced firewall on their systems? Am I just too pedantic or am I getting old and a bit of a spoilsport! Bah humbug.

I ,too, have had a number of beers and just completely forgotten the wonderfully thought out reply. :wack: probably just as well.....Hic!

And thanks, but i used to enjoy the movie in ignorant bliss...

Yeah, there are a whole bunch of problems, not the least of which is the firewall issue... and that's closely followed by the, "So would their computers actually run our code anyway?" issue. Oh yeah, and I forgot the, "What are the chances that their computer will use a comms protocol that a mid-90s Apple Powerbook can actually understand?" Sorry, I like the film too but it does pay not to think about these things too much (ditto Swordfish).

i could explain how to get round a firewall, but i cant be arsed... :duffer:

FIREWALLS DONT STOP VIRUSES!! :d

*****x i was drunk last night and would have had a right witty comment, but now im sober i aint got nothing to say (ahwell maybe later lol)

They didnt download a virus, they just connected it up to AOL.

That can **** any computer system up.

In the uncut version Will and Geoff explained exactly how they got past the aliens firewall and corupted their computer system but the producers thought that the majority of ZED owners would not understand so they just Nuked the fookers instead and skipped that bit. :smash:  :smash:

More to the point, how can anyone believe that an Apple Mac could ever do anything useful?

That's fighting talk where I come from. ;) (Actually I develop software for Windows at the moment, and have done UNIX stuff in the past, but for myself, if I could afford one with a decent spec, I'd love a Mac.)
