me next door neighbour has a really nice rover 620 turbo which is decatted mongoose system d/V pipercross and 14 psi its always very clean and he looks after it..

any way its his sons birthday today only about 9.

goes past the hollybush garden centre and theres a spot check with about 13 coppers in there stupid yellow jackets..

**** me I know they do little check overs on your car etc but didnt realise they went as far as doing a full MOT on the side of the road with the C/O2 reader etc

anyway his emissions were rocketing up and they kept him there for 1 and a half hours..then printed off a piece of paper for him which was like the new testament on why we have cats

then they goes and says if he does not produce a new MOT with emissions down within 14 days full legal action will be taken against him :nelson:

best thing they can say is is it chipped!!! thats all they know the pricks

its like the AUTO pilot phrase "been drinking son"

then they act like theyve just took out one of the biggest crime lords in the area.. :headvswal

NNo one has any respect for the police anymore :D

The ministry have been doing these road side checks since the emmision laws came into effect, Police dont do them:nono: the men from the ministry do....and again its the chance we all take when we do things to our larvly cars......:(:(

As a biker I have been subjected to these checks but so far have not had to endure them wasting my time in the car, no doubt its only a matter of time now, I guess there is so little crime on our streets now they have to justify their jobs somehow, or is it just easier to stop a generally law abiding citizen than trying to catch someone that doesnt want to be caught???

he told me they were police ?

I was under the impression they just did a few safety checks!

ie tyres lights indicators etc

A good few years back They introduced a law that allowed the old bill to carry a decibel meter so they could nick motorcyclists for have too noisey exhausts. The bike was confiscated if it failed. I havent heard of anyone actually having suffered this but still? It takes the pi55. "loud pipes save lives"

yes or to catch someone then fine them and they say there unemployed theyll pay it off 50p a week!

thats the same people who make the micra isnt it

why couldnt they have kept Datsun..

and as far as I know A couple of Rover cars hold the fastest times at TOTB for front wheel drive cars..

also 200 brake for Little over 1k for a minter sounds nice to me :D

Agree with Sgt C, that wasnt police who carried out the emission check they dont do that. it was either VOSA or the local authority council

If it had been the police who issued the paper work he'd have got a 21 day slip (V rec) and have to have the emissions checked at an mot centre

vosa would issue a pg9 delayed prohibition order allowing you to use the vehicle for a maximum of 10 days before you had to put the car through a full test

dont know about the council they probably just hit you with a £500 fine :D

The emission testing is really a political thing, the government has got to show the EEC its doing its bit against pollution and gobal warming etc, they are the ones for these checks

yeh everyone slags rovers but I had an 800 vittesse, 2ltr turbo it was a great car apart from crappy leccy windows. boy did I miss it when I sold it and bought a 406 td estate :o . Its alright now i got the Z :D :D

They tried to give people on the spot fines for failing their engine emissions, until it was taking to court by some one (A woman I think) who said how can she tell if the car's emissions are illegal with out testing it herself with a machine which costs thousands of pounds.

Bike and cars can still get fined for being too loud, but I dont think they take the vehicle away anymore. I dont think they actually have a tester too, its is no up to the officers discression to say whether its too loud or not. I believe some of the scooby lot have been done by this.
