was any1 replaced manual box bearings b4???

Has anyone out there ever changed the main bearings on a manual box? I think mine are shagged because there's a grinding noise at low revs in every gear whilst powering up. I'm just wondering if it's something I could do & if so, how expensive are they? Also I need a thrust bearing too!

I have had it done.

Not something i wold recommend doing unless you have a lot of experience with Gearbox work - I have dont a couple of overhauls before and never manage to get the back together as good (queit) as a professional.

Got mine done for 480 quid i believe. but that doesn't include fitting.

Thrust bearings are not expensice i got mine with my Clutch (cheers ACT) I can get you the Part number if you want to order one direct from NSK. You will also want to replace the Pilot bushing Mine was in one shit of a state after some made a botch of realligning the tranny ! ( Nissan dealer you know who you are)

Enjoy .

Nico, do you know of a supplier that is likely to carry Nissan layshaft bearings, other than nissan of course?

One of my gearboxes is awaiting winter so I can make a mess of the kitchen table again.

Jezz.

Jez, i can get u any genuine Nissan part at 10-15% discount over Nissan prices. All parts can take a day to a week to arrive, depending on availability.

Can you get me a price then for a Layshaft bearing for a 1992 S13 200sx Manual Gearbox.

Do you need the Chassis Number?

Cheers,

Jezz.
