I was on my way to not so great Yarmouth when i come across a mx5 so we both went for it i came pass him then all my lights on the dash come on battery and that. looked at my temp it was sky high.

so i slow right down until i could find a suitable place to stop and steam just poured out of my arches and engine bay (it did look really cool though like fast and furious style as it come out of the vents in my arches).

anyway i opened the bonnet to find a belt just hanging there, it was the fan belt but not only that i got in the car and the gears felt really odd when it was in gear it felt as if it was in neutral, it felt really loose.

How odd for both of these to go at the same time.

Did you not notice your temperature gauge creaping up?

Saying that it the water pump stops turning, the water in the engine will be a lot hotter than the water where the temp gauge is.

OUCH!

Its got to happen when you are just gonna show someone your tail pipes?

I hope the damage is only superficial Jaff'. Did you get to Yarmouth in the end or was the trip abandoned? Wheres my stick of rock....I love Yarmouth.

I was only just in Yarmouth, Yarmouth is only 20min from min so you'll get your rock next time.

Although i had problems i still proper minced him and would of on the way home too..... being toed :D

It seemed as if it shot up really fast, didn't notice it kreeping up slowly.

I've had a really bad weekend, as i fecked the stereo too hoping it's only a fuse but it saying come and still me too thiefs as i can't get it to fold in, oh and before the stereo went it cut out when i turned it over half but i'm assuming this is something to do with a earth and recently having my arial removed it could be something to do with that.

I have a few mates that live in Norwich who work on the Railways. Bridgen enterprises. Big place but you never know you might know them?

If they cruise around the city there is a good chance i know them or seen them about, most people know who i am from the Norwich area, iv'e been around the scene for a while i'm getting old school now

Mac1 always warned me how the temp gauge will suddenly shoot up but I was shocked at how right he was. My water pump started leaking and I was amazed how the themp gauge went from "normal" to max in about 15-20 seconds and I was just cruising.

I have said it before and I will say it again you may aswell connect the stock water temp gauge to the vacume line because it is a complete pile of shit!

An aftermarket gauge is the only way to go for true temp readings.

LOL PS Vijay I don't know how to take that mate;)

Totally agree ! During belgium trip, Chris's rad emptied its contents over the road till it was dry, and the temp gauge sat at halfway the whole time. If it was'nt for his aftermarket oil temp gauge he would not of known till it was way too late.

i picked up some newspapaer in the front grill on the motorway and the stock gauge didn't move but my aftermarket gauge registered a 20 degree rise. Pulled over, removed newspapaer and and all was well again

sounds like your water pump if fecked unless belt was warn or snapped, this happened to legrath shaft had snapped in w pump
