Went to see a black TT this morning, for sale £4500, rang up Saturday, the guy had own it 2 years, he describes it as a lovely looking car, awesome perormance etc etc, get there, doesnt look like its been cleaned in the 2 years hes had it, paintworks all dull, it has a flat tyre that he couldnt even be bothered to put some air in and to cap it all it wouldnt start, what a waste of time and petrol, my brother, who the car is for said if thats up for £4500 then mine must be worth £8k easily so at least some good came of the trip :hyper: oh well keep on looking I guess. Its got to be black and he wont be told that red is faster so looks like theres another member of the darkside on the way :hurl:

Unfortunatly there are a lot of bad examples of the 300zx out there.

Infact mine looked like it was a walk-away jobby when I first arrived to view it. I had spent the day travelling acros the country to see various examples. It was filthy, both outside and inside and had huge deep scratches in the bonnet.

The seller was a Dealer/Importer, who told me the scratches were done on boat from japan, and once I'd driven the car I realised it was by far the best I had driven so far. Turned out to be a great example, let down by bad seller.

Bonnet was replaced and Its much cleaner now :D

We would still have taken it for a spin if it had started just in case like you say it was a goodun.

Know the feeling - I travelled form North Yorks to Derby to see what was desribed as a mint car only to get there and find out it was a shed!! The dealer soon knew what I thought of him and his description of the car!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You would think a dealer would put some effort into selling a car, this was a dealer also who imports mainly MX5s but this was his personal car. Its not much of an advertisment for his business thats for sure.

I think that they should pass a fookin law that if the car is badly described as your experiance was the seller should be made to pay compo' to the travelling buyer.....Fookin twats...... :nono:

I can imagine what some of them are like, because 6 and 1/2 years ago when I bought my Z (were talking dealers looking at £17k in some cases and the going rate was about £9.5K to £15K) nearly all of them were dogs.

I looked at 12 cars in all and most were really rough. The one I bought was the my second choice though the milage and condition were about the same (A1) the other was manual mine was auto so had to be converted. Remember then there wasn't that many imports in the UK and only about 1500 cars in the whole of the UK so I had to travel a lot to see sheds, but it was worth it in the end.

Name and shame then???

And maybe a post on all the MX5 sites too??

Payback time!!!

Name n shame.....name n shame....etc

I went to Direct Trade Sales, near Bradford after discussing a zed on the phone with them. I got tempted to go and see a black (the only colour to have) zed, 18 inch alloys, super sound system, 50K, new spoiler, leather interior etc. After travelling from Clacton on sea to Bradford I get directed to a grey zed, standard alloys, no stereo, busted spoiler and a flat tyre.

What was worse, the exhaust had been repaired on both sides by a blind man with boxing gloves on. All tyres were borderline and he said to me "I can have them swapped for a tenner a piece". £10 each for a zed tyre...hmm I thought...

On top of that, he would not let me test drive it...

I could not get out of there fast enough but was pissed because he had got me there to look at a car and the car he was showing me was as different as could be...

Avoid DIRECT TRADE SALES at ALL cost. Oh yeah....and Keighley Trade Centre....cowboys...

If someone wasted my time like that I'd go back there with a screwdriver and crowbar, by the time I'd finished with the car they wouldn't be able to sell it to a blind man. (Btw. don't ever burn them- you don't want insurance coming to the tw@ts rescue)

Some well thought out advice there. :mac1:

also went to have a look at this with a mate(if this is the garage im thinking of)....told him to not even consider it....its a bit of a pig.....

hi suffolkzx......theres a couple round this way......often see a nice red one..or is that me looking at myself in the shop windows!!

Imagine what it feels like to pay £150 for a plane ticket, arrive at the airport to buy a Zed which you've been told umpteen times over the phone "look mate, i've been dealing in these for years and I would have to say this is the cleanest fresh import i have ever seen"

arrive At the airport. wiper switch missing...............rear and front seats torn..........scratches on the paintwork.....electric seat switches missing.........No radio and all the plastic bits in the stereo compartment ripped out and broken..... and the most gaulling of all.....No z badge on steering wheel.

I still bought it because it did have a clean engine and he promised me he would locate these bits and post them on to me. He never did, as a matter of fact when I called him he said " What do you expect? you told me my car was a peice of shit..mate"

That was my previous Zed which I restored to its glory through great expense and then drove it back to the UK two years later to trade in for my current one, which I bought from a dealer again not as bad as the first time, but I had driven 600 miles from Ireland to buy It, so I wasn't going to waste more money.

Anyway, that's dedication for ya...or stupidity

The reason why some people cannot give an honest description is because they are so full of fookin sh1t they dont know them selves when their talking out of their a55 or when their telling the truth, You will normally find these people whistle while on the toilet so they know which end to 5hit out of. And yes i have had something simillar happen to me. Rant over.
