had my test today practised for 3 days in the beautiful sun.. then walla

test day comes and its thundering

rain was thin and misty horrible on the old visor,

been doing emergency stops all week and have them perfected, then on the day he takes me to this nice new resurfaced road(wet) I approach him at 30mph, apply the brakes and for some reason my rear wheel skidded I wouldnt usually apply hardly any pressure to the rear in this weather but anyway the bike comes to a controlled stop and does a little skid.

FAil FAil FAil

only got a few minors as in all fairness Im quite a good rider ..

but it all boils down to these two things emergency stop and U turn

who the **** does u turns on a bike no one I no..

I would think that riding with someone for 37 mins they should see that your a good Well balanced rider..

and anyway if a kid walked out in the middle of the road everyone would ****ing skid as long as its controlled I dont see there problem..

chris

its because skidding means, your not in control mate, and it also increases your overall braking distance.

bad luck though mate, just use the experience for your advantage next time.

and get ya butt over to

http://www.bikerclub.co.uk

Its all about showing your in control of the bike mate, you were unlucky with the weather but dont let it put you off, go for it again asap, its worth it. ;) ;)

Sorry to hear you failed mate. Same happened to me on my test but I backed it off and reaplied the brake to stop bloke mentioned it at the end but I still passed cause I stopped sliding. Worth remembering me thinks

Craig

:( if at first you dont succeed, get ya arse back on it and do it next time.....:D

Good luck for a future test

Yep, me too :D My instructor disagreed with it as a little controlled rear wheel skid should be OK but the examiner didn't. And that was in, errr, 198-something.

When I did pass on the 2nd attempt, I was so pleased with myself I went back to work and parked up in my space on the bike in front of our offices. Two storey high, glass fronted.

Or at least tried to - in turning round, I dropped the bloody thing in full view :p and I was working at Kawasaki at the time

Arse over tip in a big silver Rukka which made me look like a Michelin man hahahaha

i just kept hearing too many horror stories when i was looking to get my licence and tbh me being a uncontrolable adrenaline kinda person...... :nono:

:)

Keep trying bud, its well worth it in the end! :D

ONCE YOU'VE GOT IT THEY CAN'T TAKE IT OFF YA "They can just stop you using it"

Craig

thanks chaps going for a retest on the 24th,

Problem was I couldnt tell I was skidding untill I actually almost stopped as it was wet

I think whats pissed me of more is the fact Ive never until then got an emergency test wrong...

if anything they were the least of my thoughts,

gonna sell my ZX4r on ebay and buy a RS125 aprilia for a month as I can still use L platse that have accidentally fell off.

then buy another 400 or something in a months time all been well with the test etc..

thanks

chris

did my u-turn on my test.........last time i,ll ever do one, that was 6 years ago.

totally pointless in my mind. infact i was instructed by a cop who ordered me never to do one again once i passed my test!

hope you pass next time mate!

Didn't you have to do parallel parking or reversing around a corner bud? :D

My Bro was lucky with his test the examiner forgot to get him to do the U-turn and needless to say Andy was well chuffed and passed.

I need to get on with mine but been saying that now for months.

Did my CBT and theory a few years ago but whereas my Brother did his DA I didn't so everything expired and sooooo got to do it all again.

People have told me that passing the test is more difficult than you think, most peeps have said to me (as I can ride a bike rather well) that it doesn't matter if you can ride OK. It's the U-turn and positioning etc. that you have to worry about aswell as a load of other stuff.

Good luck though, hope you get it next time. ;)

i just kept hearing too many horror stories when i was looking to get my licence and tbh me being a uncontrolable adrenaline kinda person...... :nono:

:)

I wanted to do my test for years; but i got married and had the kids (well the wife did :smash: ) then as some of you know; after having my first 'big' bike for 5 months some old blind tosser who should not have been on the road, hit me head on; result, me in a wheelchair; but im still alive and do you know I guess I would get back on a trike if i had the chance, :nono: :nono: from the wife now. And a :slap: later !!

The thing is mate; you never know what's around the next bend (or straight)in my case. But if we worried ALL the time we would never do anything; so you go for it mate and enjoy it :nana2: :nana2:

I guess it is fate, because if had not had my crash I would not have found this site which got me interested in the ZX300, and now i own one. Its not hobby; it's a way of life with a Zed !

fookin hell thats bad

thanks for all the advice though

timmy turbo your quite right about nothing to do with a good rider

The chap with me even admitted how much of a good rider I am and he was shocked Id failed..

the test isnt difficult really but the tester will trick you

ie "you lose me and I say pull over somewhere safe so I did but then he asked me when he was right behind me and I thought whats he asking for so I pulled over instantly once stopped he said of you go"

Trick to do Life saver check" LIFE SAVER CHECK

not safety check

you have to hold the back of the bike and physically turn to look not just look over your shoulder

Fail again if you forget!!!

Very enjoyable though

Its amazing how many car drivers are thick and think your invisible.

ie traffic lights turning right some car actually comes and pulls up by the side of me to turn right aswell and my positioning was perfect Ie holding the lane etc

WTF by the sid eof me at major lights not behind me

and guess what three incidents over the 4 days were caused by what ??

women and vans :nono:

When you consider the standard of some car drivers that get through the tests now-a-days you would be forgiven for thinking they done you a favour?

I am sure that all the bikers on this site will agree its getting worse out there. I thnk everyone (capable) should have to pass the CBT before driving a car or bike. Then they might appreciate how dodgy it is.

Better luck next time matey. You will do it and thats a fact mate..... :nana2:

Make every car driver ride a bike for 6 months before they can get a car licence would fix it I think
