i know this is a silly question. but does it have a turbo timer? If it does, thats more than likely the reason.

I own an N/A, so i dont know for definate but dont TTs have a timer so when you turn the ignition off it keeps running for a couple of minutes after something to do with the turbos??

any can can have a turbo timer. Its only called so to allow the turbos to cool down, but it will also help the rest of the engine, so benifical to none turbo cars too

nope, no turbo timer!

what could it be.. realy doin me "nut" in

mmmmmmm ill have a look at the relays and try soakin the ignition switch in contackt cleaner!

any other thoughts..

much apriciaded by the way  ;)

it will be your ecu.. swap it with someone else to prove it though first before you go buying another one.

AdamR had the same prob on his a while back.

Saw this EXACT same fault several weeks ago, the owner of the car had previously had the ecu repaired due to some other kind of fault but when refitted would not shutdown on the key however the revs dropped slightly.

A replacement ecu sorted the problem, at the time I put it down to maybe a faulty track solder when previously repaired, however in light of you having the exact same symptoms there may be a particular component in the ecu that can be damaged and back feed a live suppy to the ignition switch, unless of course your ecu has had a repair in the past and has been damaged, if you want to borrow a spare ecu to try it out give me a shout not far from you.

I thought most of AdamR's threads were titled "My Zed won't Start!"

Gareth had the same problem on his a while back, diagnosed as ECU, replaced it and problem solved. If you haven`t got the cash for a new ECU i can rewire a relay under the bonnet as a temp fix.

Bob

Am heading over mid-August for a wedding so I'm bringing yours with me (managed to talk the old man into lending me his range rover, so plenty of room!), If the other guy is serious , my e-mail is

mickandadell@eircom.net

I could bring that too and leave it at you're place for collection if that's ok.
