Why are there soo many....

Half minded individuals who simply cannot drive???

I was out before dropping something off at my cousins, (She lives on a B road i think it is). The Formby Moss road by Tescos (For those who know Liverpool/Formby).

Anway

This road is great for a blat, 60 limit with countless tight and sweeping courners, takes a good 10mins to go along normally. I was comeing round a bend in the road (Wasnt really a corner, you could probably do it at 90 in most cars) at about 70, and as soon as i come round the corner i see this bloody big Vauxhall people carrier thing comeing towards me on my side of the road  At this point im shocked and thinking WTF! Turns out he's trying to overtake 2 cars IMMEDIATLY after a 90 degree left hander!!! :nono: :nono: :nono:

Iv done this road many many times and you just plain DONT overtake after that corner, you can only see around 100meters ahead of you till the bend which i was comeing round!

Anyway i shit my self, slam on the brakes and slowly come to a hault to watch him cut infront of the car he was overtaking and fly off up the road missing me by around 4 foot!

Il admit i was doing 70, but even at 60 it would have been really close!

1 Lucky thing also, iv been using a nippy little 1.8 MX5 since sunday which has got ABS - Thank god! Because if i was in my normal car without ABS i dont think id be here to type this. The back end of the Mazda was all over the place during breaking, i was lucky to keep the thing in a straight line!

ALSO i get onto the next little country lane and AGAIN round a blind bend i come head to head with a Lexus convertable overtaking a pushbike!! ROUND A BLIND CORNER!! Luckely at this point i was only doing 30 so managed to stop dead.

But fook me 2 near head ons on 1 journey!!! Both due to stupid priks thinking they can overtake on blind corners! I mean il admit that i like a good B road blat every once and a while, but im not a dick, i know mine and the cars limits and i certainly know better than to overtake anything when there is even a remote chance of someone comeing round the next bend!

Stupid :xxx: :xxx: :xxx: Shouldnt be allowed to drive!

Rant over :D

Gets the old ticker pounding eh?! :D

Let's face it, although there are a lot of car enthusiasts out there, the vast majority of drivers do it because they have to, to get around. They don't view it as an exciting or pleasurable experience, but as something they do to get them where they are going. They have no interest in the car, as long as it is reliable, comfortable and has all the safety features off the options list. A feeling of safety while doing something they have no interest in means that their mind is on all the other things going on in their lives, and because they are 'safe' all the other tin boxes rushing around outside the windscreen are not seen as a threat. This comfortable/safe/distracted state of mind can also inflate the perceived importance of where they are going, over every other road user, who is now seen as an obstacle.

Next time you are in the supermarket have a look around and see how people push their trollies. Stand well back as they are an exact reflection of how they drive when they get past the checkout.

My theory anyway.

I had to pull over a few hundered yards up the road in a layby to calm down and stop shaking, and im a really laid back person who loves adreneline.lol

The supermarket thing is true, iv been bumped into more times in sainsburys than i can count on my fingers and toes!

It doesnt matter how much of a good driver you are you still cant trust any other person out there on the road.

Yes he might have been bored and in a rush, but to overtake when he could only see a few hundered yards ahead was just asking for it to be honest.

Anyway, he missed me, JUST but my god he would have got a faceful if he had hit me!

Sounds like you both would with a head-on :( I bet he had an airbag. ;)

;)i had an airbag too, but had sunglasses on so that would have been fun!

Aswell as an air bag in his face he would have had a nice metal bar on his head which i carry round, for safety obviously!:D
