bought an mr2 for my bro last month and took it for a cambelt change,

 

no frigging tensioner on the cambelt ffs alarm bells start ringing,

next thing the mechanic calls me up and says its not the right head, so he whips off the head only to find the numbers ground off the block :( :(

 

right then time to cal the previous owner, mobile switched to answer phone :headvswal

 

ok then lets look at the log book and look at the previous owner

so i tried to find his number in the bt directory and yep couldent find it, but we did find a cawley at 24 weston road so we called him up and he old us that he lived there for 15 years and had never heard of another cowley at that address!!

 

so where do i go from here is there a chancse i will get my money back or should i just go round there and break his legs!!

If the the car is a ringer then its no refund if you involve 5 o, so your best bet is to find the fooker and get even !!! :mac1:

I'd be tempted to keep schtum and sell it in a year.

 

Not honest but the other option is probably to loose the car and breaking legs will just land you in shyte unless you're sure you get the right bloke and you really know what you're doing.

How did you find out about the car??? Maybe he does this regular, Soooo, You could pose as someone else or ask a mate and trap the BA****D and take along a van full O mates to meet him! ;)

If you don't have an address its gonna be pretty difficult. Chances are that mobile number he gave you will be non-contract as well, but a private detective should be able to track him based on the number (assuming that he switches it on again), a good enough one would be able to get some network history and find what other numbers his phone dialed. Some do a no-find no-fee, but finding one good enough to track a mobile using radio won't be easy.

Well if the car is bad dismantle it for pieces and keep the suspension arm so when do find him give him a remembrance of the MR2 with the suspension arm in his face.

Slap him one is nice but on the off chance he involves Bizzys you lose car

I got caught out once some years ago, I ran car for 2 years and sold it

not the best BUT you only found out cos tensioner was not fitted.

The amount of dodgy cars people must be running and do not no is scary.

Dewi, part exchange it mate! Piece of mind that way...yeah your Bro will lose out but you're gonna have a right pile of hassle that I'm sure you don't need the longer he keeps hold of it. ;)
