Pah ! S'nuthin .... Mine is nominally 2Mb SDSL, but in actual fact it's 2Mb down and 7Mb up !

Whats difference between ADSL and SDSL or was that a typo?

And if it wasnt where can i get a 7MB up pipe from ? would be very useful for playing multiple online games!!!

ADSL is asymetric and SDSL is symetric. So in theory SDSL is the same bandwidth in both directions. As it turns out my ISP does not bother to rate limit upwards, so it's regulated by bearer speed, or slightly less as the radios default to 7Mb rather than 8Mb. Clear as mud ?

And my ISP is http://www.w20.net

As fasr as I understand then your ISP has capped your d/l at 2048 kbps and hasn't capped your upload so it is regulated by the speed at which your computer can supply the data to the router and by the d/l bandwidth of the recipient of data which your are sending? Or am i talking *****cks lol ?

could have had a 2meg line for the same money, but the 1meg connection was uncapped

More or less. The uplink speed is limited by the size of the pipe back to my ISP and ultimately their connection to BT. Their link to BT is 8Mb. The radio link from my house to the tower is actually limited by the radios defaulting to 7Mb, this could be increased if they felt the need, but as their link to BT is 8Mb, then there's not much point.
