OK which type of brake rotor do you feel is best? Is it best for looks? Is it best for performance? What are all your views?

Many thanks,

Rob.

If you ask me, braking is all about, maximum friction over as smaller area as possible with maximum heat disapation as quickly as possible. Oh yeah, also with maximum metal integrity. However, what's the difference between grooved and slotted?

I have seen some rotors with a narrow, square edge slot in them, and I have seen them with a radiused groove in them (ball nose cutter)

I have seen some brake disks in the shape of a flower petal, don't know what that is all about, anyone care to explane?

They have a lot of that on bikes. Notably the supersport 600 boys run them. It is said to create air turbulance and help cool them faster in theory.................. ;)

Your right same technology used in diamond cutting discs. I have just ordered Brembo grooved and drilled disks with Hawk pads.

speedemon, where abouts did you order the discs from, i've been looking a normal sized brembo's on srb power's web site ... has anyone had dealings with them?

Dont know yet mate, i did a group buy with Yaseen and some others to save shipping.

Does anyone know whats the biggest disc size you can fit with standard calipers?

No probs mate, i fitted the Golds which are £220 delivered, slotted are slightly cheaper at £210 a pair delivered, Fronts are same price as rears.

heres mine

speedmon, you gotta be looking at around 60-80 quid delivery on discs from over the pond, it's one thing that ain't cheap to bring in!

Paul, im ordering a couple of things for a few guys on here and its a big big order, shipping once split between us will be peanuts. If you want anything just let me know.

scartlead, i'd offer to get you in on the order but by shipping to here n then again to you in northern ireland it would work out cheaper for you to just order direct

:D :D I think i manage quite all right with importing weekly as it is mate, but thanks for the offer and i've dealt with Z1 many times.

I do suggest though, if not done already you get a quote by email for the shipping as just 2 sets of discs alone is near the max weight allowed... without your other stuff, unless it's multiple boxes.

cheers
