Just read an article in the local rag, aparently the government are drawing up plans to shaft anyone with big-engined vehicles. In the highest categories were Range Rovers, other 4X4s and MPVs but surely the Zed must be in there too? It's allegedly gonna cost £900 a year for vehicles in the highest bracket. :mad: Does anyone want to buy my Zed :rofl:

Well what do you believe? That road tax is going to increase by a lot or that they are going to get rid of road tax and charge you to use the roads.?

 

 

They'll shove road tax though the roof, and up the tax on fuel ..... and of course we will all breathe a huge sigh of relief that we don't have to spend £200 on a black box that spies on every move you make and taxes/charges/fines us accordingly (and gives the details out to marketing companies so that they can target you for 'relevant' advertising)

 

The biometric ID is going to be a ballsed up abortion that will not work for 20 years (by which time your average school kid will be able to fake them), so they've got no chance of efficiently installing black boxes in 40,000,000 vehicles and get them registered and working.

 

They'll give a few tens of millions of Pounds to various I.T. companies to look into it (and then you'll be surprised to see the politicians who set it up working on the boards of those companies after they leave office)

 

The massive amount of money they collect from price hikes will not be spent on improving the private/public transport system, but will be spent on further illegal wars, underage pregnant Chavs and disabled ethnic lesbians (or at least to try to plug the debt gap that the spending will create)

 

Then they'll tell us that we've never had it so good you lucky people! :headvswal

And the reason for the massive ever increasing taxes on the motorist is in the name of the environment, how many of you actually buy the man-made global warming theory, which they use to justify these taxes?

 

Here's a couple of facts :

 

Atmospheric carbon dioxide levels, currently only 350 parts per million have been over 18 times higher in the past at a time when cars, factories and power stations did not exist — levels rise and fall without mankind's help.

 

96.5% of all carbon dioxide emissions are from natural sources, mankind is responsible for only 3.5%, with 0.6% coming from fuel to move vehicles, and about 1% from fuel to heat buildings. Yet vehicle fuel (petrol) is taxed at 300% while fuel to heat buildings is taxed at 5% even though buildings emit nearly twice as much carbon dioxide!

 

As carbon dioxide emissions from cars and factories does not have any measurable impact on climate, these taxes are 'just another tax' on enterprise and mobility, and have no real green credentials.

 

The planet does not need saving, but taking this on anyway, removing every car from every road in every country overnight would NOT produce any change in the carbon dioxide level of the atmosphere and in any case it is pointless trying to alter climate by changing carbon dioxide levels as the cause and effect is the other way round — it is changes in the activity of the Sun that cause temperature changes on earth, with any temperature rise causing carbon dioxide to de-gas from the oceans.

 

There are nearly 18,000 signatures from scientists worldwide on a petition called The Oregon Petition which says that there is no evidence for man-made global warming theory nor for any impact from mankind's activities on climate.

Many scientists believe that the Kyoto agreement is a total waste of time and one of the biggest political scams ever perpetrated on the public ... as H L Mencken said "the fundamental aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed, and hence clamorous to be led to safety, by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary" ... the desire to save the world usually fronts a desire to rule it.
