I'd never really thought about getting one as I always liked the Poopra. My best mate bought a Z and let me have a drive - that was all it took. Most bhp for the least money? Quite possibly.

Got mine purely by chance. The father in law had it for about 12 months and in the end decided he couldnt cope with it. Came home one day (about 6 weeks ago)to find it on my drive with the keys through the letter box!!!! All he said was 'look after it'!!!!! Couldnt believe it, had always lusted after his car and now I have it. Only problem is that he has fooked about with it and I am in the slow process of getting it how I want it. Dont really want to put it on the road until it is right. Coz it deserves to be a looker not a tatty looker!

I got mine cos i waned to be like mac.

Im strugglig to eat 20 pies a day though!!!!!

what a car for the money.......if only i was a clever bugger then i could afford the twin turbo!!! mmmm night courses where is the yellow pages :smw:

cos it was cheep..........

lol, thats the exact reason I bought mine

Just out of curiosity how much did you pay for you car 5 years ago.

i paid nearly 16K for mine 6 and a bit years ago. The car was only just over 4 years old with 34K on the clock.

I paid 7500 for my first zed, it had 75k on the clock and it was a uk car.

Ok I'll admit it then.....

I saw this site and needed some friends. You see I was lonely. very very lonely. Now Im still lonely but people notice me more. Well not me really it's the car they notice. So I spose nothing has changed. all that money and Im still lonely.

Price was an issue but I've always loved the 300ZX TT & when it got into my price range I just had to have one! :D

multiple reasons i suppose, best looking imo fastest car for the money, targa top for sunny days having always had to have saloons etc because of having 5 kids, now they are all grown up so i dont need space, very few 300s on the road, mid life crisis

I've always enjoyed driving unusual cars and I thought it would be a fun second car.

I also thought that if I didn't keep it too long it wouldn't cost that much. Oooh I can fit the kids in the back, that makes it almost practical! The fuel economy isn't too bad (!?!?).

Will I ever learn?

Once behind the wheel, I fell in love, then the money started to flow and the engine blew. I still don't want to get rid though.

I used to have a S13 200SX which i was very impressed with at the time. A mate of mine used to have a Z31 300ZX which i thought looked dreadful, then i saw the Z32 and just fell in love with it. I knew from the performance of my 200SX that the 300 was going to be just fantastic.

Ended up doing some research on them (most of it from this website! to which i say thank you very much) and then found out my mates sister works for the bloke who runs the Mazda Rotary Club and he said that he gets all his RX7's through a bloke called Miguel (runs a company called Newera Imports) and i should speak to him.

Spoke to him and he found me a very good condition 1992 Black TT Manual. I absolutely love it and hope that i can keep it for as long as possible.

TBH I was looking for a R33 Skyline GTS-M but couldn't justify the insurance (or the wife wouldn't!), as the car was to be bought as purely a 'toy'. Pretty happy with it though, despite its insistance to test my patience and pocket!. The 300zx does look a lot nicer than the Skyline I have to admit...

What I like is that it draws so many comments from people. For example, I went and bought some brake pads for it the other night and in 2 places got very cool and respectful comments from staff about my choice of car both times...

...it's the most versatile car on the road. It's a people carrier, it's an estate car, its a sports car, it's japanese (reliability), it's not a Porche (I'm an inverted snob), it dosn't have Ferrari running costs, it's rear wheel drive - and you can remove the roof without having to suffer a rag-top. - Oh, and it's over the magic 220 bhp that turns most cars entertaining - oh, and I nearly forgot, only those in the know own one...

i drove a few at work and fell in love with the 300 breed have also driven newer cars like the 350z and when i worked for BMW i also drove cars like the M5 and M3 but none of these feel the same, (to many safety gismos). you guys may disagree but i prefer my zed to all the for mentioned. that is when i ent having problems with it :D

the sheer beuty of the car,well...there is some serious dogs out there

I have alway's been afraid of the repair cost's in owning a Z, but realise now there are soooooo many people out there offering advice and information plus breakers and company's specialising in Z repairs, it aint that bad.

As far as insurance goe's, UK car owners should try http://www.firstalternative.co.uk, i got mine fully comp for £363, an my post code aint the best, my V6 vectra was £480 with another company, go figure, import cars i was quoted on with norwich union import car insurance (found in google) was only £440 ish, again cheaper than the vectra with CIS.

And of course, everytime i look out the window an see the beast staring straight back at me outside, i just wanna go drive it.........................Cheers NISSAN :)

ive not got mine yet (on the boat) but i think its because i was sick of my saph cossie breaking (380bhp rwd)

i had a go in my mates 300 which is running 12psi and it feels loads faster than my saph ever was plus insurance is only 800quid fully comp(elephant.co.uk) i was paying 1600 for the saph

Have you had a quote from norwich union IMPORT car insurance online??

My post code is pretty pants an they were still cheaper than a V6 vectra with another company!!!

  • 3 weeks later...

Got a few reasons:-

1. Cheapish to but

2. Cheapish to insure

3. Japaneese (reliable  )

4. Nissan (which I already had past experiance with)

5. Turbo'd ( :D )

6. Targa top

7. Sold in the UK

8. RWD!!!

Ivan

I like cars that are a little unusual. You should have seen my bosses face when he gunned his £54,000 M5 V12 looked in his mirror I wasn't there thats because I was right beside him overtaking in my TT Z I paid a princely sum of £500. But mines just failed it's MOT on rear brake pipes why do mechanics always end up with cars that require three arms and an eye in the middle of your fourhead to fix. I had a Integrale before :)

Just out of interest?

i did a search on autotrader found a red 300zx TT and bought it

now love them that much i work on them :p

Well I blame someone on this here club!! One warm sunny Friday evening I was driving south on the A14 and I saw this sleek, low red sports car cruising along in the left hand lane. I pulled up next to it and saw the targas were off too. A big bloke with long wild black hair was driving it. Noticed 300zx.co.uk stickers in the windows. As soon as I got home went straight onto the net and browsed the site. I saw this big bloke with wild black hair at the SE meet over Easter this year. Its your fault I'm broke now!

I first saw a 300 when I was a kid in South Africa. Asked my dad what car is that and he said 'some sort of Nissan and its got TWO turbos' From that day on I was in love with the car but never seriously thought about getting one. Until I came across that site. Awesome looks, big RWD power and reasonable money! Until they go bang that is!! :p
