6X9s in the rear quarter panels? Any idea whether they would go in or not? I reckon they'd sound excellent firing in the car like that with the natural angle. I've seen components in there, but I have 4 6x9s lying around and I really want to get them in by hook or by crook lol

Anyone have any idea if they would go? Is there room?

Thanks : )

just like shunter m8, tried it, cut meself, swore alot, smoked a fag, swore some more, gave up,........ put them in the doors!!!!

I've now got 6x9's in the doors, a set of tweeters mounted on the top of the doors next to the wing mirror, and a big-ass chrome sub with a sub box in the boot.

too much effort m8, lol(plus they rattled like buggery back there when i turned it up)

good luck, hope you can make it work m8 ;)

I had some in where the original speakers went, did away with the mounting brackets as they got in the way, cut them straight into the plastic as it is rigid enough....just had to tidy up yje original speaker cover holes..

There is not a lot of room to play with...

Cool guys, yeah I've been studying that site previously. But I really wanted to get them in the rear panels next to the seats. Hmmm. Looks like I'll have to give up on that then. I'm thinking of a false floor, then mounting the Sub and amp on a sort of shelf, with it being able to lift up and slot the T-tops in. Then I can incorporate the 6x9's into that shelf. hmmm. I'll keep thinking.

It's deffo a challenge getting a decent ICE setup in a Zed and still having somewhere to put the bloody T-tops isn't it? lol

If you made some brackets in MDF which held them out a little they would fit no probs, i had some 6" in there and yes they sounded much better than the stock position :)

Not wanting to rock the boat mate but are you sure 6x9's are the way to go? (I imagine you're talking about co-axial's right?) If you reckon you don't have space (or whatever reason) for a sub then go for 6x9's. However if you do then you might want to reconsider. IMO (and that of many others) 6x9's draw the sound stage to far back and muddy the sound quality. My advice would be to keep it simple: a decent set of components up front and one 10"/12" quality sub in the boot, or perhaps even two good 8" subs (maybe evem two 6"s mounted in the rear quarters?) all powered off one amp (not the best way to do it but it saves space and keeps the install light). Just a thought fella! :)

Yeah I was thinking of that. But to keep costs down I wanted to try and use the equpipment I already have got ove rmy last three cars. By far the best sounding was my Focus Estate (yeah I know but there was a good reason lol). That had the four 6x9's I want to use and two 12" Subs in a bandpass box. The 6x9s weren't even amped, they were plenty loud enough with the Alpine's amp on the headunit. And the box was obviously amped with a Black Widow. This sounded feckin excellent, and suited the sort of music I listen too. Previous to that I had a set of components up front and 6x4s in the back with the same subs and head unit, and I didn't like it as much. So I'm going by my own ears experience. My brain is telling me to get components up front, but my heart is saying 6x9's lol.

And if I listened to my brain I wouldn't have 1 300ZX in the first place pmsl

I'll let you know what I decide, it's being done today and thankyou everyone for your input, appreciated as always!

Jon.
