[If any of you guys fancy a right good laugh  ; watch 'Tonight with Trevor McDonald at 8pm ITV. Theres me on it trying to keep a straight face while being interviewed by that Fiona bird  The interview is about the fact that an old to55er of 83 (not quite your age slick :nana2: ) who through being left to drive and;as proved after the crash; was not fit to drive due to failing eyesight and signs of dementure, put me in this wheel chair.

No; honestly its a jolly program and they even got the Zed on film; not driving though  They even managed to talk the wife into being filmed :hyper:

If any one watches it; let me know what you think. Be kind ! :smash:

Good on ya Marcus.....Hope this program wakes a few people up.

Where was the Z Dude......Sh1t I,m 48 hope I didnt miss it coz of my age :slap:

No Problem, it was worth watching just for the 2 second shot of the zed (hehe)

You never know we might see it at JAE if you can make it

Respect to you and your family Marcus - particularly liked the comment about MOT's for people - like you say we test our cars when they are a certain age why not the people who drive them

Good on ya Marcus

Glad to see you've got your chin up!

Now its time to start shitting some past it drivers up in your Z.

nice comments mate, mot for people was very well put! have seen quite a few old feckers prang their motors at work recently - one ran over herself and another ran over a 3 year old kid. cant see why their pride stops them from doing the sensible thing???

dont mean to pry too much, but that was quite a bit of kit in the mpv (was that a chrysler voyager?) what have you had to have done to get back in the driving seat?

hope you recover -imk sure i would with a pa like that!!! ;)

Thanks chap;

The MPV is a Chrysler Grand Voyager LTD it was converted in Sweeden and has had the floor lowered by 30cms (to gain headroom) with a side ramp to get in with.I drive from the chair using standard push/pull hand controls;electronic hand brake and a control on the dash which enables me to do wipers/dip main lights/turn sigs/rear wash wipe and it goes on wont bore you :nono:

As for driving the Zed; well thats a different kettle of zebras !! :p I can slide in using a 'sliding board' as it's all down hill; getting out using it; NO CHANCE. :smash: I have to use a portable hoist that i keep under the car port.So the problem i have is if i go out i have to stay in the Zed. If i make it to Japfest or Pod i will have to get my mate to drive the Zed, and i will follow in the Voyager

Regards

Marcus

Ohhhhhh bugger!!

christ!

so has the z got hand controls 2?

that old ******* deserved alot more than he got, too. small sentences like that just take the piss. how does that equate to losing use of limbs???

this country is fookin crazy sometimes. :headvswal :headvswal :headvswal

I think its strange how everyone you ask seems to be in favour of testing old people after a certain age, even the majority of older drivers seem to think its a good idea, so why doesn't the government just go ahead and do it?

only problem that I can see is that health can deteriorate quickly, so 6 months down the line after passing their OAP license they could be senile and incompetent, personally I think along with testing the police should be able to pull over drivers who they think are not fit to drive ie - little old people travelling at 15mph down the road and force them to retest.

my sister was hit by car pulling out of a road, I went down to the scene as it was just down the road, she claimed my sister was speeding and called the police - result - old lady ended up in court, fined £300 and had to do a catch up driving assessment.

its not only older people who get away with lighter sentences though, my dad was nearly killed when he was run over by a driver who was racing along a street through a red light, he ended up with 3 points, and my dad ended up with life altering injuries and a prescription that runs to nearly 2 pages.

its good to see you out and about in the zed though Marcus, there are a few other wheelchair bound 300zx owners on here who use hand controls. The only thing putting me off of buying a bike is other road users :(.

would have been good to have trevor come and interview you, then you could have made his hair turn grey in the zed lol :D.

Hi Rich

i don't know if they put it out on ITV3 any time.

Marcus

Cheers marcus,

No worries, Phil (apache) is kindly sending me a copy of it!

Looking forward to seeing it!

Rich

Woohooo, i spotted the old girl in ya drive Marcus!

Fair play to ya matey, thats all i can say,

you've gone to a lot of trouble.......to drive a z!

See ya @ Japfest...... :)

You are 1 strong minded person and i give you and your family full respect for getting where you are. There are alot of people out there who only have minor problems and they think their world is crashing down, i should know, i used to be 1 until 1 of my very good friends was killed. You dont realise just how short your life is and now i appreciate everything i have

All the best mate and good on ya for keeping your chin up through all this, it must of been hard at times
