300ZX TT Buying Advice?

Having just sold my Accord Type R in favour of a new flat and wedding, I am after something a bit different.... and thinking of a ZX TT...

Just got an insurance quote for one, it is an import and the insurance company asked if it was right hand drive and I said yes... They did not ask about imports... And only want an extra £14 off me. I thought imports cost a lot more to insure?

Was the UK TT car available in 1990?

Also, anything I should be looking for when buying one?

It's an auto, with most extras on it, and a full years MOT.

Car has 72k on it, so anything that I should be thinking about with it?

Thanks, and hopefully be hanging around on here a bit more in the future!

Mike

Hi Mike, Welcome to the Forum :D

There is a good buying guide here : http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm

The Uk Model was available 1990-1994 (possibly some early examples in late 89), and was only availble as a TT 2+2

Japanese Production continued till 2000, and was available as a TT, NA, 2+2 and 2+0(SWB)

If your insurance company did'nt ask about it being an Import, then they have almost certainly quoted it as a UK model.

Imports will cost more to insure, but if you find the right insurer then the difference is neglidgeable.

It would be wise to ask on here if anyone current zed owners nearby would'nt mind checking the car out for you.

David

just phoned to verify - it is an import they quoted for. £14.50 extra on the £420 fully comp with protected NCB that I paid for my Accord!! :D

Strange they took it as an import from the initial quote?!?!?!? Hmmmm, but they confirmed it was an import and that would be on the docs if I took the policy out

Good buying guide - thanks :)

What company is this?

Admiral - they have been good for quotes for me for years

Welcome to the world of Zed???? Not even been to see the car yet - I just saw an ad and thought I would find out about running costs and things to look for when I go to see it :D
