I have a 93 tt auto uk spec and when i pull away sometimes there is a noise like something scraping on tin , the sort of noise you would expect if the backplate was catching your disc , but it,s not that , looked underneath and cannot see anything catching , so no idea at all what it is , it seems to be coming from underneath , g,box or propshaft area , any ideas or has someone had the same problem , would appreciate some help as I don,t know what it is or if its serious cheers Noel

Could be the propshaft where it exits the gearbox, there is a tubular shield that can catch some times, usually though after work has been done in that area .

Likewise there is an aluminium heat shield over the cats, if dislodged or one of the 10mm bolts/ nuts holding it up have come undone it may well be catching on the propshaft, both the causes are in a similar area, to check it out would best be done on a ramp as the exhaust may need removing to sort it out.

Cheers mate , that sounds like the area it,s coming from , will have a look and see what can be done

thanks

jack up the diff start car and listen :D

:nono: Beware holding the car up at the rear for any length of time, i fitted splatts cat back zorsts the other week to mine, had the rear end up on ramps for about 2 hrs, took 2 days for the gear changes to settle down, as if fluid level's were all to cock. Anybody know why??

Cheers Greg will give that a try and see
