is this better than optimax or not

Yes! Its 99 Ron (optimax is 98ron)...a lot of the european countries have it....and there are rumours of it replacing optimax in the UK...but still waiting :(

I asked 2 of the cashier's of my local Shell station about V-Power and when it was coming to the UK, they hadn't got a clue what I was talking about!

tesco are selling 99ron fuel now

does it sell under v power or something else i have a tesco near me but i normally use sainsburys for the reward points. :D

Nope BP Ultimate is just rebranded Super unleaded at 97 Ron, many have reported their Zeds dont run as well on BP Ultimate as they do on Optimax.

 

I've only ever used it as a £10 stop gap between Optimax garages.

no, it just says 99ron on the pump, where the usual 97ron super would be

I can confirm that STEVENAGE have the pumps there with the 99ron sign on them and I spoke to peeps in garage and it should be in by Tuesday next week.

I didnt see a price on it but i'm gonna swap my usual ESSO 97ron for this TESCO 99ron.

I havnt had any problems running ESSO (never dets)but have had about two dodgy batches of fuel from them in the past.

 

Im gonna be seriously clocking up my ClubCard points now peeps with £85 a week in GoGo juice :bow:

If you we're a betting man Dave you would be right!! It is replacing Optimax, got the leaflet from the Shell garage when I filled up.. Good call, and you posted this back in 2005!!

I popped 60 quids worth in today on a trip out to peterborough and back today, i asked if it is actually v-power not optimax and they said yes.

 

I've ran a third of a tank through today, tempted to disconnect the battery and let the ecu reset then take it out for a spin to give it a proper go.

 

Initial signs are good though, better response overtaking. Don't know about fuel economy yet though

yeah 99.9p a litre for me today and after paying 106.9p per litre for bp ultimate it's a breath of fresh air :D

Shame my 2 local Shell garages 1 mile from my house have just changed to BP :(

Nearest Shell is now 8 miles away :(
